basically some old guy hit my wheel.. not the body work thank f**k!
axel is bent out, probably fucked the drums too, and wheel is beyond the point of repair, which is a shame as they are custom bored bbs

he didnt want to pay me cash :/ so told me to go through his insurance and he accepted full liability to them

New rear beam and all the stuff attached to it, might be a good time to upgrade to disk brakes too. Afternoons work at most.

haha, i was asleep when it all happened!
if i hit the kerb i wouldnt have the car trailered away and have to claim on his insurance? why would i lie on a forum? :S

anyway..

yeh i want to upgrade to disks, cant afford to do it out of my own pocket with a uni budget and stuff. If its written off, i have a friend who will fit me a sport beam and change abs rings and such to make everything work with the non sport.
im not sure how much the garage will quote the insurers to repair and source a new wheel, so am wondering if itll be written off.
was just asking if anyone knows the rate a garage will charge to replace the beam?

i honestly have no idea how he did this damage...
surely if i hit a kerb the damage wouldnt be a bent beam in the direction mine has gone? id imagine it being bent so that the drum becomes effectively positively cambered?

thanks for some of the more serious answers..
i can upload proof of the note the old guy left..

"off to write the note himself"

Brb.

Lol to writing the note haha.

Only damage I see here is the wheel.

To me the axle is an excuse to upgrade to a 172 beam. I bought one for my replica but never got round to doing it.

Just need the axle and check what ABS rings/teeth you need from what I can remember.

I massively fucked up my drivers door on my rep a few year ago. Literally crushed it in half almost. Bent the hinges so a new door wouldn't even go on. (Long story short, reversed down my slope drive with the door open and caught the rockery on the front garden.. Lifted the whole car up like on a jack and destroyed the door.)

F going through insurance and putting it as a cat vehicle. So I Went to a scrappy to get a new door, (black easy colour) then off to a body shop to move the hinges back. Job done. No write off, nothing. Only thing I'd be pissed about is the wheel. Other than that it's not as bad as what it could have been.

If your story is correct (b****cks) then kudos on the old guy because that's quite an achievement.

What was the damage to his Yaris?

There's no way on this earth that that was hit by another car, unless it had a tow hook in and hit you at 192mph, while still being able to drive off.

Looks like the yaris was super low on airbags and had a landrover defender bull bar as a splitter.

Perfectly plausible...

Haha ffs
Believe what you want, looks like someone went at the wheel with a crowbar, whatever happened it is fucked and an old guy came back and was hovering around, came up and claimed he had 'clipped my tyre'

He accepted full liability to his insurance company the same day, which put me in it, as we were discussing a cash deal, but his insurers called up asking about claims and he then refused to pay

Yay.. Without a car

And s**t, I'm partial to a bit of shaggy, blastin out my 6x9s pickin up me hoes .. Oh wait im not in staines

Your Mrs borrowed the car, side swiped the curb, and made up the whole "old man" story

Rs6s don't have tow Hooks because the diff oil might boil.

Gtrs don't have them either afaik, so that leaves an m5 that did it.

If it was the drug dealer from the other thread

Ohh my..

Look, I'm not an idiot, I can replace a beam myself, and have someone local to my home address who specialises in clios, if I had damaged my own car i wouldn't be asking what his insurers will declare severity of the damage as.. I'd be souring a new brake setup!

And I'm certainly not going to go handbrake turning the 1.2 Clio through the streets, that would just be embarrassing

I don't understand how the duck that has happened, do you have spacers bringing the wheels out past the arches?
