whats the verdict.

Car  Ph1.2 / VW Polo
my options are:

1) keep my 1.2 for another year, finish what i started and get it looking exactly how i want it, cheap year running costs and insurance wise.
look into gettin a 172 when ive got 2yncb, make the jump from 1.2 - 2.0 litre. spend about another £120 on it (not including coilovers)

1.2) i wanna slam it, so if i keep it my mates dead set that i should get coilovers. i cant really justify spending £300-400 on suspension when its a cheap car that just for pottering around in. i know i cant 'slam it' without coilies but id be happy with a 60-70 drop on springs.

2) sell up, get a bigger engined car and start a new project. spend more on insurance. not such a jump in engine size.

im not particulary bothered about speeeed. just love the ph-quicks.
and im defintly not making a rep.

thought id get opinions from the people who know best? :P cheers :)

Take your time, don't rush into decisions, they can be expensive. Don't bother with coilovers for a 1.2, what have you got on it currently?

yea if your planning on getting rid mate dont get coilovers id personaly wait and save abit more money gives you another year to get another ncb year, i can afford to insure a 182 (LY one off here cant remeber who's) but that was only gonna be £804 quid fully comp on my own with 4 years ncb

40 mm springs.
yeh i dont really wanna spend the money on coilovers.
do you have to have custom springs made if you go lower than 60mil?

im swaying towards keeping it till this time next year.

How old are you? Dont buy the 172 if your going to be paying more than a grand in insurance, what a waste of money.

i spent a grand insuring my 182 when i was 21/2yrs NCD. Personally I treated my 1.0 corsa like a piece of crap and didn't invest in it at all, in order to devote funds into buying a 182.

It's up to you though I suppose

im 20 atm, insurance up in march, then 21 in july.
i cant imagine any quotes for 172's will be less than £1500.

any young 172 drivers around?

Knowsit.

Plus, why mod it if its going to cost you more in insurance. Leave it stock then upgrade it in the future when you are bored.
