Which AMP

im after a decent amp but must fall into the following critieria

1) must be a monoblock of some kind

2) must be aroud the 1000Watt mark

3) must be loud

4) would like something of which is stable at 2ohm or less

5) would be nice if it was cheep aswell

any suggestions welcome

whats your budget as that basically decides a lot of it

i presume you mean 1000W peak, forget peak/max figures, its all about RMS values

im running a Sony XM-D1000P5.

Some specs here:

500 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms
900 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms
Class D design
Speaker- and preamp-level inputs
Variable low-pass crossover
Gold-plated connectors
Bass boost
Low-pass filter
13-5/8"W x 2-1/8"H x 13-1/8"D
Its a great amp, powers my 2 10" subs, which are 300w RMS each quite nicely. Just dont buy it from halfords, coz its like 300 quid there lol, i was lucky to get the one in the glass display case, that had just collected dust (never had been used) and got 100 quid knocked off

class d is good ya?

yep, its more efficient than class A/AB etc amps, think its something like 80% efficient at its lowest, whereas class A/AB amps can be as low as about 60%

not for the spec that you want mate

that Sony is a very good spec for the money !

still, personally if you can afford £200 like you said, id spend it all, you mainly get what you pay for, and in general the japanese stuff aint as good as american stuff etc

if you get that though, make sure you get a dual voice coil sub as to get decent power out of it you need to show it 2ohms

true brun, it does the job, and i dont push it to the limit, i just got it coz it was cheap at the time, and it does my subs quite nicely, with a bit of slack aswell.

Gonna get it scoped to see its true power output at work, and ill let u know how it goes.
