who would insure a 1.8 16v @ 18

hi,

when my years no claims arrives i fancy upgrading to a 1.8 16v, but ive tried some insurance companies none of which will touch me.

i have an oldham postcode that is reasonable high risk.

is anyone on here insuring a similar car or in a similar position who could reccomend me someone to insure it for me, preferably for under £2000

ta, jonny

youll be lucky, especially in an area such as oldham

may be a case of waiting, or forking out big ££ to get insured

2k is far too much to pay for insurance on a valver! (or any car for that matter) depending on what valver you get its probably more than the car is worth!!

I paid £1500 on my 1.8 16v clio when I was 18, that was with 0 yrs No claims, but I did have my pass plus.

I was with Admiral then.

Try elephant. Once I have had my license for a year (at which point I will be 18 with no NCB) they will insure me for about £1200.

Try elephant mate!!!

Can deffo be done, specially with a years no claims..........I got insured at 19 with no no claims on mine!!!

mate i did the same as you, passed at 17 and had an AX, but i stacked that into the bak of a sara picsaso rightin both cars off!!! so i had no no claims and a hefty crash behind me!!!

anyways when my insurance was up for re-newal i thought "stuff it" ill have a valver, i went with http://www.hastingsdirect.co.uk/http://www.hastingsdirect.co.uk/ and they are the same as http://www.peopleschoice.co.uk/http://www.peopleschoice.co.uk/ and i had a year of struggling with my £2600 insurance lol..........but it was worth it, just finished payin it and now have a williams!!! so ive been serchin through insurers on the net and the cheapest quote i could get on ma williams with 1 years no claims was bout £1600 (bearing in mind i still have to declair my crash) then i tried http://www.elephant.co.uk/http://www.elephant.co.uk/ an they have quoted me just short of a grand so im well happy lol!!!!!

so basically im sayin try elephant, you should have it quite cheap coz u havnt had a crash and you have a years no claims ;)

P.S sorry to bore u all with my life story

apart from the cost of the insurance, you must check out the excess.
i have a voluntery £250.00 on mine, but its £200.00 to begin with.
the insurance is only £400.00 (im 24 with 3 yrs ncd) but the excess is £450.00!!!

im with elephant.

Adrian flux told me they wouldnt insure someone on a valver until 21 when i enquired may last year!!!

Havin said that though a few years back older friends of mine were insuring Fiesta turbos and rs 2000s at 19 with them and a valver comes to mind but think he was mailto:21@the">21@the time anyway!!!

I was told NO, tbh dont think they could have beat elephant anyway as the above were paying into the 2k margin for insurance iirc!!!

what car do u have now jonny?

was gonna say the RT is still a pretty awsome car for the price, i loved my old RT that i used to have, you could have 1 of those for a year, n have another ncb under ur belt, n could have a valver "cheap as chips" then

ive got a 2002 1.4 16v.

but im off to uni soon and after something cheaper but faster too

tried elephant and im getting quotes around £1300, its less though if i put the uni post code as my adress as its a york postcode which is less risk than my oldham one.

will the insurers allow me to do this? the car will be there for about 8-9 months of the year and back at home for the rest.

jonny

im 20 with no no claims bonus and elephant want £700 a year on a valver. they want £600 on my 1.4 16v

yes, u should use where the car is most of the time, so at uni, sorted

as for bringing it down more, add 1 or 2 older women who have full years no claims as 2nd drivers, dont have to be family, i added 2 women i work with, both over 40 with full no claims, saved me £200
