Dont see the sense in just not buying a 172 or 182! Anyway dont see why it wouldnt fit its the same bodyshell! best person to speak to is matt black on here!

  RS Megane DCi 175
It'll fit but you'll need to uprate damn near everything - suspension, brakes etc.
I think Matt Black sells everything you need for 1.5k ex VAT and fitting - he's the man to speak to, him or edde.

ok well maybe fitting a 182 engine is a bad idea!! what can i do to the 1.2 to make it a bit more gutsy. PS it has the looks of a 182 it just needs some more power where do i get it from?????????

basicly youll need to change ALOT of parts. most people on here will say buy a 172/182 but thats not your question. Youll need engine gearbox cluthc new suspension, brakes and a few other things.

  none :(
you can fit a 172/182 engine in the 1.2 but you will need to upgrade the barkes/suspension etc.
As stated above speak to matt black or fred (you can find them in members area and search for their names and send them a pm)
Your looking at around £3k all in tho around £1.5k for engin etc £1.5k to get it set up.

Surely instead of an '03 1.2 you could have looked into an older sporting model?

If a 172 is too much to stretch to, then a 106 GTi is a good alternative, financially.

The 172/182 and 1.2 shells are exactly the same shalls except for the sunroofs.

You'd need the gearbox as well as engine plus you need the radioatr realy and to make it simple swop the sholw looms and closk for the 172 ones then whiclst you can modify the 1.2 shafts to fit why bother might as well uprated the driveshafts to 172 ones and then use the 172 wider track suspension and brakes.
Thats kit is £1.5k+ VAT from Matt Black. Ok best stick a new clutch in there since its easy enough plus a service and new gearbox oil and a new cambelt and new bushes so say £350 for those bits.
As for fitments cost well its not worth doing it anyway if you have to pay and the cars not broken before hand 16V_jon did the conversion as he'd blown his old engine up. if you pay someone expect to pay £500 if they want a project to do (Ktec were looking some time ago) or between £1 ~1.5k to get someoen to do it normlal or get the tools and do it yourself you'll learn as you go along only.

How old are you Richardfirefighter as your insurance will go up rapidly with an engine conversion.

defo not worth doing unless you can do the fitting yourself, if your doing the fiting its worth it.

you need engine, gearbox, clutch, wiring loom, dials brakes and suspension are recommended, defo worth doing them dont need to do the rear disks drums are fine.

You only need the looms and dash for simplicity you cna make the stock ECU run the engine with a loom made to fit. Same for the suspension and box the car won't ride right but it cn be done.

Its geeting less and less cost efficitn now you can pick 172's up for next to nothing. I've seen them go for £2k for a worn one and £3.5k for ones with 80~100k on them in tidy condition.
