Williams 1 engine

Can anyone give me any info on the engine in the williams 1.

i.e.

what engine is it? is it a 1.8 16v bored out and tuned by williams? is it reliable? are the parts expensive? are they expensive to keep, run look after generally.

Its a F7R700.

2ltr based on teh same casting as the F7P722 castings.

It has a longer throw crank, diff pistons and shorter rods.

The cylinder head is the same bar a 2mm increaes in inlet valve diameter.

If your gonna race or build a high power output engine then the 1.8 is better. UNless your planning to spend far too much on steel cranks and rods.

parts, if sold as willy parts are expensive, but to run and keep they are fine.

The Williams has the 1998cc F7R engine where as the 16v has the 1764cc F7P Engine. The Williams uses the crankshaft from the 1.9 Diesel Clio aswell as bigger pistons - 0.7mm broader than the standard 82mm. It has bigger inlet valves, sharper camshafts and a different ignition system.

the cams are ever so slightly wilder it doesnt bare thinking about.

so if its done 110k, and been fairly well looked after, is it worth buying.

a willy engine.........yea, why not, as long as you dont pay anything silly like 400-500 quid.

And, if youre looking at the engine in a car, its got a different exhaust manifold to the 1.8 F7P engine. The Williams manifold looks a bit weedy and tubular, whereas the Valvers engine has a big feck off cast looking manifold. Sure someone else could elaborate better...
