Williams ABS light

  williamsclio.co.uk/forum

Hi all.

My car has treated me to a visual performance of its ABS light yesterday. Tryed reseting the electronics by removing the battery, which had gone flat anyway - and changed it too a nice new one but its still onski.

Anyone had a similar prob ?

Plus - Whats better replacement filter for a Will - K&N or Green ?

Cheers

Im not 100% on this but I think its normally because one of the sensors is dirty or faulty.

when it happened on my mates car I disconnected both sensors, gave them a good clean and reconnected them and it was fixed

I knocked one of my sensors on my old one when i jet washed the engine bay, certainly best to get it sorted because that means you dont have abs.

I had a K&N on my williams and it whistled which i didnt like, my friends got a Green on his 306 and that sounds really good and throaty. Dont forget to run plenty of cold air feeds to your IK though or else youll be losing power over the original box.

Mines still coming on very intermittently especially when its cold - If I switch the engine off and back on again it can go off for days!

How easy is it to take off and clean the sensors?

Dont know, ill have a look at the haynes manual tonight.

Should have been more clear - Im not upgrading to a Induction Kit - but keeping with the original airbox and replacing the element. Going to go for a green filter so far.

The sensors are buggers to get off , they usually rust in, the best thing you can do is remove the wheel and clean the sensor ring with a soft small wire brush to clean any muck out, remove the electrical connector to the sensor and clear out with a bit of penatrating oil, refit all parts, hopefully this will sort it.

Dont bother with an IK on the 16V/Williams. They suck in lots of hot air and rob you of performance. You should be keeping a Williams standard anyway!

He never mentioned getting an induction kit!!!

Does matter which replacement element you get mate the greeen and K&N are both very simular and will both do the same job just as well

The K&N is probably cheapest

The haynes manual says - If a fault develops and the ABS lights up - take it to a renault dealer for diagnostic. Might be the best way other than cleaning all the sensors.
