Williams Comparison differances.

  williamsclio.co.uk/forum

After comparing my Williams 3 against 2x Williams 2s yesterday, and 2lives Williams 1.

I’ve noticed that the Williams 3 alloys are different to the 1s and 2s - the gold on mine continues from the silver polished rim and runs down towards the tyre seat.

The Williams Logos on the side and rear of the car appear to variety from each evolution of the car.

And to all with a Williams 3 - can you go outside and check on your front bumper for me, to see if you have a black or colour coded bar underneath the front number plate, between the cut-out for the radiator ?

Mine is blue (but the bumper has been resprayed, before I owned it), MarinS is black, 2Lives is black and the Jesus is blue.

ok my wheels are all gold no silver rim because they were refurbed by the last owner and done wrong!! thats on my list of things

the bar is blue on my bumper , dont know if its meant to be?

Your wheels are all gold because they have been re-furbed wrong.

The Williams decals were just gold outlines on the willy1 but had a blue infill on the 2&3, differences in gold are from weathering or poor copies.

The bar on the front bumper will only be blue if the bumper has been resprayed and they couldnt be arsed to mask it up.

hope ya get a good job done on ya refurbs!!! i was well chuffed with mine! £50 a rim not to bad and well worth it

Not many people can refurb Williams wheels properly.. they always tend to get the wrong colour..

Williams didnt have Mustard/DirtyOrange wheels!

Few places seem to be able to do a better job now tho.

so i been told colour matching is hard to get! but when they were being sprayed in the factory obviously it was a controlled mass production of the wheels! when i parked my williams 3 up next to gti girls williams 2 you could see that her wheels were darker than mine and hers had been refurbed as well. and as i got told getting the diamond cut edge back to looking new is hard! but he managed to do it on mine! but when they cant get that right they normally just do the whole wheel gold

I dont think Renault will tell anyone the exact colour.. neither will Speedline.

I seem to remember it being a special..

Only way to get original original is buy new wheels.. which is about £900 - £1000 inc Tyres!

On your last two pictures, did the silver band on the wheels go right upto the tyre like that before the referb ?

And what colour is your front bumper bar between the intakes for the radiator Fatboy ?

The Williams handbook states tyre pressures should be to -

UNLADEN FRONT AND REAR: 2.0 (29PSI)
LADEN FRONT AND REAR 2.2 (32PSI)

yes mate the diamond cut edge was there before and it went right up! and bumper bit is black(should it be)

Think so.

All the ones which are now blue, have had a touch up respray at some stage.

But my wheels are 100% genuine. (Not knocking yours pal, still look sweet as) But I need to see if there are any other NON refurbished Williams 3 owners with wheels like mine or like yours.

yours up for a refurb soon mate? or they still quiet good nick? if so they done bloody well over 9 years mate!

Front 2 are a bit rough, The paint is pealing off from the spokes and there is some kurbing on one of them, from before the alloys had 195profiles with rim protectors fitted, a little corrosion/rust aswell just for good measure.

They still look the part, just a bit tatty close up.

Easy mod.

Plus it Blends in with the car a hell of alot more, as you have no amber lenses front or rear on the car anyways.

Ripspeed @ halfords mate. Special order as they only stocked clear.

Just unclip the amber ones, pullout the bulb housing, clean the paint to remove any grime, and refit the nice new ones.

The only mod that would ever do to a Williams.

I dont seem to make any money though.;) With the wheels Id loosen your wallets and buy a new set. I got 4 wheels and centre caps for 820 ish pounds. Dont go through too many tyres though as mine got a slight mark on the diamond cut rim when they swapped the tyres.:(

or get urself to pro-clean in prescot....£35 a rim n u seen how the finished article looks............maybe if id slipped em an extra fiver a rim or summat the slight ruff edges wudda gone......they fit the tyres too hehe

Is it worth having the rims done again, or will the corrosion just come back?
If its done properly.. it shouldnt come back.

Maybe you got a slight chip in the laquer? hit a kerb slightly?

If a slight mark in the laquer is made.. enough to get to the paint.. it will just work on from there!
