Witnessed a crash, was nearly involved

  VRS
i was waiting to pull out of a junction and join a queue a traffic behind a new range rover. i was in 2 minds as to whether to join the traffic or turn right and go home because the traffic was pretty bad due to a fatal car crash in town.
whilst i was weighing up whether to join the queue i saw modded clio heading towards the queue, he passed me at the junction and to my surprise he didnt brake and just went straight into the back of the range rover which in turn hit a berlingo van in front of that! he must have hit it at around 40mph :( he hit it hard enough for the rear of the clio to lift about a foot in the air :(

i dont know why he didnt see the traffic but luckily no1 was hurt and even luckier for me i wasnt sat in the traffic like i originally planned otherwise i would have been sandwiched between the clio and range rover

the clios a write off and the range has a damaged bumper and boot, also the range was transporting antiques as they were moving house so it could be costly. the 2 peeps out of the range said they had pretty sore necks as they werent expecting to get wacked into.

the berlingo had a dented boot

anyway heres a pic i took of the front of the clio:

im glad i dint join the queue, phew

when your driving i think they should. if he would have wacked you at least you would have got your bonnet sorted ;)

could have been alot worse though, so thank your lucky stars you werent involved.

im just glad he was ok, the range had the boot open as it was transporting stuff for the house move, there was a large cast iron table which could have very easily gone through his windscreen :(

mark: the bonnets booked in for tuesday :D

Did the old bill turn up? Hopefully there will be charges of driving without due care brought against him.

if something of about 1100kg in weight hit you at 40mph when you were stationary, you'd get a sore neck, easily!

Dick! lol

Without question he sailed past you staring at your front calipers, probably dribbling slightly.

You say the traffic was easily visible from half aa mile away, but most people don't even spot the brake lights of the car two ahead, let alone focus 1/2 mile away.

to be fair the couple in the range were in their 60's and the impact was enough to shunt them into the van in front and leave a big dent in its rear doors so whiplash is likely

ye but 2and a half tonnes doesnt need to be going very fast to bend a few back doors on a van

yeah i know what u mean, its hard to explain but to your evryday joe whos driving along, the traffic would have been realy obvious but then again he was young and his car was chavved up with stickers all down the side and he had his choons on so he probably wasnt paying much attention to the road (sorry for stereotyping)

i do understand what ur getting at and to be honest they could have just been saying their necks were sore when they werent but then again if they were sat without the handbrake on then the shunt cud have done it, either way its just a good job every1 was ok :D
