WTF have I done? Boot not locking

Have stripped the interior and now the boot doesn't lock. Ive got the the two speaker connectors idle and another that I have no idea where it goes (it won't reach anything I can see anyway), have also fiddled with the wiring that runs in the rear bumper to the number plate lights to stop the rubber flaps rattling, any ideas?

did you knock something or break something when you took the trim panel off the inside of the tailgate? it has to be something like that because i dont think you could have cut any wires by accident.

Boot locks are a common failure, had mine done on warranty a few weeks ago. They work using an electro-magnet, and that's prone to failing. Seems to happen to a fair few Trophy's for some reason.

i expect ur boot lock has died, myne started smoking like fook the other week, had a new 1 under warranty, but as usual i had 2 fit the s**t

The answer to my question is - yes, they are expensive. My local stealer wants £63.64 for the part! And they won't touch it under warrenty as the car is not exactly as Renault sold it to me! I wonder if I could claim that the interior just fell out? Surely it wouldn't be the first...

Thats BS. As long as none of your mods directly affect the boot lock they have no grounds for refusing the warranty claim. Get onto citizens advice, ang then go back with some ammo.

Put the trim back round the boot lock area, then go to another dealer.

Couldn't be bothered putting the trim back in, and I swore quite some time ago that Renault mechanics wouldn't touch my car again, so did the work myself.

For those who may have the same problem and have just run a search, the part number needed is R82 00 060 917, it cost £46.01 inc. VAT - so not as bad as quoted over the phone.

It's simple to fit (3 bolts) and replaces the whole lock mechanism.

I'd be tempted to write to renault customer services, see if you can get your £50 back.
