Xenon bulbs

Hi, probably a really simple question, my 172 phase 2 has Xenon lights like most i suppose but Ive been confused when looking for a replacement bulb as a friend told me mine were gas emitting bulbs as opposed to something i can purchase from halfords, Halfords say not, help!

They won't be hid bulbs at £6.

Proper HID bulbs are about 40-50 pounds.
