Xenon Headlight with custom CAF built in (TRACK USE ONLY)

  M3, Cup racer'd 182
Hi all after having a spare xenon in the garage i decided some time ago to do a custom built CAF into the headlight just for track use only so here it is in the making.

1st thing was mark the headlight to the shape and dremel it out and use guttering and cut and heat with a gun once soft bend to the rough shape.

Next pic is with fibre glass sheets placed inside to give you the idea of the shape.

Once i had the shape i wrapped the outside in fibre glass and soak it with resin giving me the chance to keep it together, after the resin was set i used a dremel and trimmed a Channel inside where the joins of the plastic so i can fill with fibre glass and sand down to a smooth finish.
Once this was all done i sprayed it with primmer (inside/outside) to check if it had any pits and smoothness.

Cheers.

Good work! I gave up with mine ages ago! It didn't take me long to realise that I was s**t with fibreglass! My plan was to remove the indicator though and put an indicator in the headlight washer blank, hopefully making it road legal.

Cheers mate,
Funny enough i was thinking of doing the same thing 1st but looking into it there isnt much room at the back to get a good size hole with xenons (massive rubber cover) :(, but that would be simple enough to do.
All you need to do is split the lens from the backing and you could of used the indicator reflective part as a template and work around that and build up to the lens.

If i had another spare headlight i'd have a go and see if it would work.

Look's great I hope you don't mind but I want to copy you when I get my car back! Looks really good and I imagine it works well too! :)

EDIT: Ps the car also looks awesome :D
