Yet another 172 Cup project...

Some of you might know I've had about 5 RS clios now and the most recent 172 cup was bought for whizzing around Berlin when I was working out there. It had a hard life in -30° temps...

Now being back in Bristol, it's not getting any use and so I'm using it as a track/weekend/teach myself mechanics car.

Not done too much yet other than strip as much as I can from the rear, reroute some of the wiring, dewiper and fit a Skoda Splitter.

It came with a K-Tec Supersport Stealth, Vibra-technics engine mounts and braided hoses.

I've also recently fitted an OMP steering wheel with horn on the indicator stalk, and started work on some brake cooling ducts using 100m Bass Ports and tubing.

These also turned up in the post today...

Lots to do before I book my first full track day but taking it for a stint around Wales next weekend.

Dodged the rain and sorted the brake ducts today...

Needs a clean front plate and I need to find something to make the deflector plates out of.

Nah, bought it from someone locally in Bristol and then drove it out for the 18 months i was out there LOL!

Well I caved, 3/4 plate now on...

Also started spraying the inside using Holts HBLUM01 which is a very good match to the Cup's Mondial Blue.

Not done much spraying before but pretty pleased so far. Needs a couple more coats in the rear. Front seats are coming out today so I can start on the floor pan.

Got the Cooksports and KTR solid top mounts on last weekend.

Didn't manage to get any photos of the springs before and after as was too busy cursing at the lower shock bolts but all fine in the end. They'll be coming off again though for the camber bolts which got delivered today along with tow strap, more paint to finish the foot wells and the first lot of eyelets for harnesses.

So finished painting today and drilled the holes for the inside lap harness straps.

Nice day today and managed to get the seats in on VBD extra low Subframes. Really well made and really happy with the fit. Just need to get the sidemounts adjusted to my liking now.

No photos of the seats yet but outside shot of how it sits on Cooksports. Defo needs spacers. What do we reckon 10-15mm?

Seats and tow strap fitted -

Awaiting delivery of harnesses, eyebolts and an RS Tuner.

Also got Camber bolts on and it'll be going in for Geo next week at FCM Alignment in Bristol.

Then it's finally time to book some track days... Recommendations???

Haha no I know but then there's not a lot round here other than Castle Combe so always happy to travel! Main reason I'm keeping it road legal because I can't afford/have the room for a trailer!

Of course! Fit like a glove into the fog surrounds, however, there were a few bits of bumper that i had to chop off for them to fit at the right angle. Nothing to do with the fog light mounts though so can always be put back if needed.

So harnesses on this morning, holes made for harness anti submarine strap (5th point) and fitted some grip tape to both footwells.

Also stuck a GoPro mount to the roof and picked up an RS Tuner to map this week...

Alignment done today by Lee at FCM in Bristol. Did a spot on job. Just over -2° camber and 10mins toe out.

Not made much progress on this lately other than giving it a full service and new windscreen wash pump...

Now weighing up Roll cage options and probably going for a Safety Devices Rear Cage for now. Anyone have any better ideas?

No there was hardly any sound proofing being a cup. I was nicely surprised compared to the FFs. A bit of tar on the roof and inside the rear quarters which you can see in the photos.

Those seats suit the car well!
Are they the clubsports? Seems to be a few cup owners around bristol (I'm over the brige in magor myself) Always see one or two on the way to get the bike serviced at Fowlers.
