Yo- New 172 Owner

Morning peeps...

Ive been prowling the forums all week, picked up my 172 a couple of days ago!

shes a beauty.. Silver 02 plate with 26k, xenons and climate.

Im really impressed with it althought I think the exhaust is rattling and it needs a service..

Already got a few things I want to do to it...inc poss blueflame exhaust and recon alloys.

Previous car was a Astra 2.0 Turbo. The clio is alot more fun though!

couple of questions already...Is there a good place i can buy renault parts from and can you recommend a good way to clean the engine.. i.e the pipes that bulge from the engine cover.

the exhausts are crap on them, prone to falling off by 30k, infact some have had exhausts replaced under warranty within the first 5,000 miles!! So the Blueflame exhaust is a good idea.

think the stuff thats best for cleaning your engine is called "engine and machine cleaner" by Auto Gleam

Welcome.

You will find a lot of useful guides in the technical section, its worth joining up to access this, it will save you a lot of time and head scratching.

One tip, just between you and me, don't mention Lexus lights. ;)

I predict that within an hour and the question of how to get the display and controls to work with your Pioneer h/u will be on your lips. :D

Nice 1 fella , enjoy ..... cliosport is a wealth of knowledge . some ppl will help as much as possible too .

yes the auto glym engine and machine cleaner will work well on the grimey bits .... use a brush too , browse through the car detailing section for best products and how to .

good parts always crop up too in parts for sale section , anything specific put up a wanted thread request .

Lexus lights..no chance...Would rather put tights over my lights (joke)
Im a tasteful modder. Booked in for a service at weekend, got some nice 5w40 for it.

Just looked through paper work and car has had a full new std exhaust system fitted a few k's ago so that will do fine. alloys defo need doing though, maybe anthracite? Are uprated exhaust rubbers available, noticed that there is quite alot of play in the back box.
