con rod cap failed after the bearing failed due to heat build up...

then it bent the rod.... holing the block and smashing the piston into .... well what you see.....

we were all laughing LOTS when it came apart.!

Any idea what caused the heat built up no oil/no coolent?

Just wondering if the new engine bits although there stronger will be able to stand the heat build up again?

Any idea if the track day use had anything to do with its death?

80k of hard use.... simple really just one of those things....

it happened at high speed after an hour of racing solid! and the engine was worn anyhow... was using a little oil

if you drive a car that hard nothning is going to keep it in one bit forever!

I was wondering if there was any reason that con rod broke were the others just as likly to go or was it just a possible lack of oil (happened on a bend didnt it so maybe no oil?).
Cannot wait to see the new engine though will it get a nice paint job?
