When the engines ticking over an I'm sat in the car I can hear a faint tapping noise from the engine bay, I can't hear the same noise lifting the bonnet? Not much to go off I know but does anyone have any ideas what it could be or if it's even worth worrying about

Can a blowing exhaust effect power that much? Where the exhaust/cat joins the manifold it's seems to be blowing, not so much when I'm cruising but when I put my foot down, man, it's loud!!
