Trying to save a £300 172 cup

This was my map, it makes stock torque until after 2.5k then spikes up, when really a turbo diesel you want a big lump of torque at 1500rpm as i had on the previous car with the same engine! i knew the minute i looked at the graph it was going to drive horribly, they said just test it for a few days and any issues come back to us [emoji23]
as if the power delivery wasnt bad enough it was in limp mode before i got out the industrial estate lol

anyway back to 172 cups!
I won't post mine and slate them again tbf though their eventual customer service ended up with Stan sorting me out and covering the cost so can't complain too much.

I had asked if they could spend a bit more time on it a while after the original map after as it never felt like it had thr performance it should of going by thr numbers but the impression I got from that was they wern't interested in spending anymore time on it. Although the tune it had pre hybrid was good and if anything ran better and performed better [emoji1787]

Scoff basically said he'd improve it or no cost before he even had the car on his dyno just by the graphs I had emailed him lol

Mate the dash has been out of my car so many times to do various things i fail to remember.. The Clio dash removal is an absolute doddle..

I would agree on the top dash being a right doddle, the lower one imo is a pain in the a##e. Especially in a road car to change the stupid plastic vents!

Nah dont be silly.. The only hard part is getting the plugs out of the heater panel, in a cup, a bit fiddly. Centre console out, Steering wheel off, Fuse box, steering cowel off, indicator stalks, a few screws here and there. Unplug this and that.. Done 20mins or so..

I would agree as cars go they are easy to work on. Interesting on the door lock. I have always wondered why my track car had both passenger and drivers side door locks. I ended up just putting a random door lock in the passenger side from one of the Clios I have broken over the years.

I have the rubber grommet, battery clamp and should have a mondial blue mirror casing if you get stuck.

I'm am just going to buy a mondial blue lock cap off ebay for a tenner to cover up the lock I don't have key for

If you have a mirror cover, clamp and radiator bung that would be awesome

Drop me a message telling me what you want for them [emoji1303]

Great work on this, loving the progress.

Only need to take the upper dash off to fix broken slats in the centre vents. The slats actually pop out from the vents individually. And it’s not the slats that are broken, there is a bar that runs vertically and horizontally which clips in to each slat to keep them all connected. Currently in the progress of fixing this issue on mine (see my project thread) as the bar had snapped. Only issue is sourcing replacement bars as a lot of people don’t know what you’re on about, and taking the whole centre vent unit out as one requires lower dash to come out as mentioned already. But a chap got in touch with me and offered to 3D print some bars for me, just waiting for them to turn up now.

My slats are defo broke I had a look today

I took the top half of the dash off today it's real easy [emoji1303]

The cars back on its wheels [emoji16]

Fitted the new alpine stereo and a parrot hands free also got the amp and sub into the boot

Refitted the uch

Both doors have been stripped down glass locks seals and handles all swapped couldn't for the door cards as I'm waiting on the sticky stuff

Gave the clio a wash and polish today even though I have not driven it it's amazing how dirty it got from siting with me working on it

It has loads of marks and a few dents i will get the front bumper painted and decide on I what else to get done

Drove it round the block and the pedal feels solid made me think something was wrong but the brakes work well just need to clean the disks up, I want to replace them after I get an mot and I think I'm getting booked in Thursday or Friday

Serv light came back on the dash and the only errors I have are the fan but it works

So far I'm about 650 into it [emoji1303]

Been away from the thread for a while as i'm gathering parts for mine but caught up now and what you've got done in a short space of time is impressive!

Great work.
Keep going and when you get yourself some Turini’s it will be transformed.

Who knows if our cars will ever be financially worth all the effort we put in but I suspect you don’t really care. I know I don’t.

The fact is I have really enjoyed fixing up mine and I can’t think of a car of equivalent value that I would enjoy driving more.

Also, it’s no bad thing to have a project on the go these days...

I look forward to the next instalment. (y)

Those wheels are truly horrid!

Stop all work until Turinis are fitted :)

Your right I really dont care i am not doing it to make a profit I want to hang on to this little car for a while

I might be able to afford some turinis when I get paid at the end of the month we will have to wait and see just how the MOT is on Thursday

She passed her mot happy days just a few adviseries

But nothing drastic
Tyres
Ball joint play
Track rod end

Also found a set of turini's [emoji7]

They need a little work but come already sandblasted

Another good buy at 150 quid [emoji1303]

Bargain Turinis! As already said it will transform how it looks. If the other wheels are 15" some one will buy them for use on track or keep them if you plan to use on track 👍

can anyone help

i had the original air box brackets missing i have worked out the back one attaches to the ecu cover

i am struggling to see where the front one bolts too

ive ordered 4 new rainsport 5 tyres for the turinis my thinking is i can get some semislicks for the 15" wheels on the car now for trackdays and now i ave some wets too

the cars is not going to do that many miles as its not my only car so rs5's are going to be good enough

jobs for the weekend are

refit the door cards with the sticky stuff as its here now
swap out the throttle body and get the airbox all bolted up
fit the rear calipers if they arrive today

@Danboy66 This is where the front one attaches. There is a third bracket underneath which bolts under the battery to the battery tray. Hope this helps.

Two bolts hold the long bracket on. Hopefully the front bracket is still there. Mine was missing the rear bracket when I bought mine and sod's law that was the only one that Renault had discontinued.

  172 cup
I removed the long ecu bracket to front panel above been doing loads of work on the car in that area and I wanted to paint it
I have both front and rear brackets as they come with the replacement airbox I bought only one long bolt though I'm sure I'll have some something in the garage I can use
Thanks for your help 👍

This picture shows part of the bottom air filter bracket. Bottom left of battery hopefully you can see one of the bolts.
By the way nice to see that you are rescuing the cup instead of breaking it.
