Clio 172 - slow progress project

The hole should be around 1mm upper, but it is what it is:)
Hope it will seal fine without any issues.

Great thread.
Never expected Kangoo brackets to fit clio f4r. Got the same kit myself :)
Have you considered using electric power steering pump like in clio cup? Ive read somewhere that a peugeot 106/saxo P/S electric pump works well.

Thanks for your reply.
I was thinking of having electric pump (hybrid pump) also from Dacia (same as renault). But having the electric column will be a lighter setup and just add a module to have variable feedback. Maybe not the best feeling as hydraulic pump, but no pipes, no oil and lighter is the winner setup.
Those bracket can be found also on Clio.

Now I take the engine block apart and will bore to 83mm and start assembling the turbo setup.

Engine block came from machine shop. A fresh hone and a 83mm bore. I just need to insert the oil jets. Hope I can do it right.

And the 197 head with 182 additional idler receive new supertech valves, new guides, new stem seals, 3angle valve seat cut and a .1mm skim.

I would like to buy a full cage. Does anyone know from where I can buy safety devices cages?

Thanks,
Radu

Looks great mate. Have you got a link for the new lights?

Sent from my LYA-L09 using Tapatalk

Not much of an update, I am busy with house work...
But, I receive some parts:
Flexible 3" tube for fog air vent
New TDC Bosch sensor
Complete (I think) 182 jack toolkit
Some an4 fittings and hose for oil feed
Brand new OEM gearbox link
Brand new engine mounts and rare exhaust hanger :)

I am waiting for the new style pms top mounts and then I will start to install them before continue working on the engine conversion:)

After 3 years of searching, finally get the original satnav plastics in order to add an android device.
Wireless charging, but 3.5mm jack for now, next Bluetooth connection.

Due to this pandemic, I did not start to assemble the engine:(

that’s going to be brilliant! I’d love to do something similar in mine and have it linked to the obd for live diagnostics without destroying the oem look of the interior. Just a shame those housings are rarer than rocking horse s**t!

I found the dash central piece on Facebook and the display piece in Germany at a 3 years interval.
I was on the point to retrofit the original satnav, but really like youtube premium and waze together.

that’s dedication to the cause right there! I was half tempted to try and make one but lack the time, effort and skill 🤣. Looking forward to see how it pans out though 👍

Now I did something else just for fun :)))
I will try this week to install everything on car.

After 3 years, this "retrofit" is done.

I am very interested. Did you modify the software to the mobile phone so that it starts automatically like carplay / android auto? Have you modified it so that it turns on and off with the car ignition?

Tell us more please.

Hi! I am using an android device (s9) that uses a car app as home application.

The phone is charged using a wireless charger. Because the phone was not so big, I have access to power on/off button on it. Otherwise you need to hack the device a bit, or use one with on off button on main screen.

Best,
Radu

Head is almost done, need some chamber work and that's all.

Not exactly what I want, but close enough.
The lightest piston+rod has 1gram difference from the heaviest one, but as a pair for 1 - 4 and 2 - 3 cylinder bore are close enough.

Based on f4r 736 manual, 1 gram is just fine.

Well, engine is assembled, engine loom is next and some sensors.
Was a pain to create an idler pulley for cambelt, as the original one does not fit anymore after ruining the tap hole🤦 and I was forced to modify the cambelt cover.
Looking for 200hp.
