Steering 'notchy' turning right only

Hello! My 172 cup steering has become 'notchy' with intermittent resistance turning right. Left is absolutely fine. It feels very odd.

I've recently had the gearbox out, so had the subframe dropped down. My uninformed guess is that the rack might be damaged.

Anyone else experienced anything similar?

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Sam

Turned out to be the steering rack. I guess with the gearbox coming out and going back in again, it was eventually going to fatigue the steering rack if I wasn't careful enough. Anyway, I've changed it for a recon unit from eBay and it seems a lot better now.

My only issue now is that the car doesn't 'feel' right. It seems to wander right and left at speed and I can't keep it going in a straight line. I constantly have to correct it to keep it straight. Needs looking at by someone who knows what they're doing I think so I'm taking it to see Mick at Diamond Motors for an initial inspection tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed he can see what's going on.

If you've changed the rack have you now had the tracking done?
