I totally missed these massive developments...
Shame to see the 172 go, but I totally get the feelings you had/have - I have been there.

Little surprised though that you have just basically replaced it like for like, do you think you just enjoy the build more?

I defo enjoy the build but had had enough of the MK2. Little things like the manifold stopping the rocker cover coming off, I couldn’t get comfy in the seat as I couldn’t get it back far enough with the cage it had and few other bits then when I looked at racing it, adding up replacement parts and the wait time made it not viable.

Few other life things etc but breaking the car, buying the 200 and all of the parts I need to build it, I’ve still been able to bank a far wedge of cash into my savings account.

Sounds like a sensible decision then (not that I expected it to be anything else).
Good that you got to bank some coin from the transaction - goes to show that building something yourself is more costly/poinltess

Before the track day I tidied up the interior, put my seat in and got the steering wheel in the correct position. Oh and the big wing.

As it was my first time driving a MK3 chassis (and this actual car) I wanted to test it as it was.

So spec of the car as I’ve purchased and altered the interior is.

Engine
Toyo exhaust manifold
Akraprovik titanium exhaust
RS Tuning remap
KTEC Aircon delete kit
K&N air filter and silicone hose kit
Wheeler Motorsport radiator mount

Gearbox
Fully rebuilt gearbox with new syncros, bearings and seals from AW Motorworks
Blackline LSD
Ktec billet flywheel
HEL clutch damper delete

Interior
RenaultSport Sabelt steering wheel
OMP snap off boss
OMP 60mm spacer
PureMotorsport foot plate
PureMotorsport bucket seat mounts
Corbeau Pro Series bucket seat
TRS drivers harness
Sparco Rev bucket passenger seat
Sparco passenger harness
Full CMC lightweight race dash
Race tec switch lightweight heater
Loom thinned
Mark Fish Motorsport Safety Device rear cage
Plastic lightweight windows all round

Exterior
CMC front splitter
BYC large rear wing
Bonnet gutted
Fake aero catches with no pins

Wheels
Genuine Speedline wheels in 17"
PureMotorsport wheel studs
Continental tyres

Brakes
God Speed Brembo big brake kit
Floating 2 piece J hook discs
PBS Pro Race series front pads
Ferrodo DS2500 rear pads

Suspension
Gaz Gold coilovers
Comp brake adjustable top mounts
Polybush black bush kit throughout
Rose jointed rear
Rear camber toe shims

I’m yet to confirm all of the modifications but the car was mega on track overall.

Handling wise it was great.

Brakes mega.

Seat, steering wheel and foot plate all mega.

The 200 electric column feels real good, much better than the mk2 DCi units.

Engine pickup from low down wasn’t very good at all. Maybe down to the rubbish air filter on it. Any suggestions on this?

The standard shifter tower “feel” isn’t nice. It has nylon gearknob on but the actual plastic unit bolted to the car seems to flex.
Again some suggestions here would be useful

I really don’t like the front splitter, splitter rods, JDM bumper catches or the Fake aero catches.

This race dash that’s in it is to low, so the stalks and surrounding plastics cover the coolant and fuel levels. I’ve already ordered the fix for this, just waiting on it.

Engine mounts feel sloppy and you get the Powerflex floaty and flex feel in the wishbones.
