Renault Doncaster Club car

  Dodgy one
Hi Folks, New to the site and new to Renaults TBH & will be purchasing a 182 this week :D

Ive been to Evans Halshaw today for a test drive in a 182 for an upgrade from my GTi6 (more of a sideways step TBH  ) Im after some info on a car if you can help

The dealer has a RB 182 in stock at the minute on an 05 plate with one of the site stickers under the clio badge, there was also a bottle of water in the centre console and it was nice and dirty .

I know its not much use that info to the majority of you :clown: But if you have recently traded one in there or in the area and what were your reasons is there anything wrong with it ;)

Edit: it also has 35,939 miles according to the advert

Thanks in advance
Rich

What did you think of the clio over your Gti-6 ?

The one i test drove understeered a fair bit, but i put it down to ditchfinders on the front, It felt like it could be thrown around corners which is the usual french hot-hatch i find :) think some F1s on it would sort it out

The power delivery was there straight away and it felt more responsive, which was probrably due to the clio being 200kg lighter but it didnt feel as quick as my 306  despite having an extra 12bhp or 30bhp/tonne not sure wether my mods helped on the six, i doubt it as there only breathing mods

The brakes were very sharp and the ride harder than my six but it impressed me TBH ;) it was a toss up between the 182 and a CTR, clio won because of more toys and it was a cheper and more economical car overall

I'm going to miss my six though, Its cost me a fortune to get it above the usual standard Ive had the suspension renewed, engine rebuilt, wheels refurbished etc etc the list goes on :dapprove:

Edit: Just put a deposit down on it :D

If I had a mint 6, I'd have it over a 182 (I've owned a 182 and a 306 rallye). The 182 will understeer more than the 306, even with decent tyres.

I didnt drive the CTR, Whenever i view one or wish to drive one something always goes wrong viewed four at garages and never got out once  I can always get one later on when im boored of the clio  but the only thing which was putting me off really was the purchase price for what you get and the fact theres no steering feel (supposedly) There nice cars dont get me wrong, just a bit on the pricey side

I know what you're saying Warren it takes a lot to make the front end go on the 306 and i managed to get the 182 understeer on a few occasions :dapprove: im sure a few tweaks to the steering geometry would sort it out though :)

Ah ok gotcha now, i've heard from a few people the steering feedback is a bit vague :(

And right enough for value for money , you cant go wrong with an RS Clio ;)
