What the hell is this? - Item below rear of engine

  Trophy
Was tidying up my brake calipers earlier this evening, and whilst I had the wheel off I was having a good look around..Then noticed this....

Can't work out what the hell it is, felt like a bubblewrapped bag with somthing weighty inside that was perfectly placed in that position. Looking from underneath the car, it seemed to be sitting ontop of the plastic sump guard that seems to run from the front bumper towards the rear of the engine. What the hell is it?

It's to absorb all the oil that leaks from your gearbox and engine so you don't know about it and it breaks.

the undertray originally comes with a foam liner which is wrapped in plastic to keep it dry - i think it's most likely there as sound deadening?

I just ripped mine off as the foam tends to attract muck and water etc when it starts to get old. As said it'll also stop you knowing when you have a major leak!!

My Cup's not got any padding and doesn't look like it ever has, I guess it's another area of Cup cutbacks?
