Aftermarket Battery - Keeps Moving/Terminal Loose

  '03 MCS, MKV Ed30
This has been a problem since i got the car.

Seems as though the battery is aftermarket and isnt actually attached down, just wondering how they usually are attached down?

Also, with the battery moving, the positive terminal moves and its not as tight as it should be, even when fully tightened up.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

James

What "Aftermarket" batter yare you running exactly? Standard fitment batteries are clamped and bolted in position.

It definitely doesn't have anything bolting it down. Not sure on the make at the moment but think i need to try and source the clamp part to it.

probably need a new +ve terminal, they strecth if overtightened and become loose, about £15 from memory

Honestly can't remember how on earth it's fixed down and don't own a Clio any more to check... does it 'clip' down under a part of the base/tray ?! :S Someone will tell you...

Why have you got a non-OEM fit battery anyway ? Halfords sell them.. not like it's hard to find one that does the job properly ?

It's a block clamp that bolts to the battery tray and wedges the battery in place. It's located on the left side of the battery in the middle

Must of been replaced before i got the car.

Need to pick up a new terminal and check if its actually got the block clamp to hold the battery down, if not i need that too.

Totally different subject, my boot wont open when central locking button is pressed on remote/dash. Ive read its the solenoid on the boot catch, how the hell am i meant to open the boot from the inside to change it?

Renault priced up the bracket, bolt, etc for battery and the terminal at £13.88 if anyone else needed the prices.

Thanks.

Yea i should of checked it doesnt have the clamp tbh, but if it does and its not attached, i can just sell it on/return it. I need the terminal the most though as it keeps moving, so i get in to start it and then have to get back out and push it back down properly, not safe for the electronics i know but it hasn't done it that many times.
