What's a good polish to use by hand?

My brother has fixed my DA (needed a new motor or something), but I cba with it for the rest of this year tbh. Ill start again next year with a proper correction.
So for now, what i'm wanting to do is give the 'Flower a good going over and seal up for winter.

Going to stick with my Zaino Z2 sealant I think, unless people can recommend another type, as i'm almost out of that.?

I can see am AF order coming up soon. I've only got Revive (thanks Rhys!) and am seriously impressed by it!
 
Btw, Harpananananom, that's not to say that I don't agree with Gally in that for your needs you should use a filler polish.
 
Lols, I forgot about 203's by hand, I was too busy thinking 106fa! Doh! JD is right though, bit nicer to work with than P1 also I found. :)

Tripple is obviously a different product. Tripple is good for a tidy up on mates cars or parents, nice and easy. Good on un-polishable areas also.

Yup. I think it'll do the trick for over winter. Only really looking to seal, ready for next year's real anal detailing, so filling plenty of swirls is an added bonus ;).

So ill get some of this ordered. Any sealant recommendations thats durable for winter? Or will Z2 suffice?

2 Coats of Z2 or you could order some Tough Coat for ease of use? Spray and wipe etc. I do love my Z2 though. TC looks great over Tripple right enough.
 
if using tripple by hand is it worth using a cutting pad? If so any recomendations on the pad to use? I've only got the standard Megs microfibre pad jobs.

Or am I way off in thinking that Tripple as a certain amount of cutting/abbrasiveness to it?
 
Sort of mate. It does have light abrasives like Srp but not much. Would do no harm by hand but I prefer the MF pads mate.
 
tripple does offer the finest of abrasive but it's not really what it's for. it's more along the lines of enough cut to help with the cleaning of dead paint and oxidising. I removed paint scuffs with it after someone knocked my wing. I like to use it with a MF pad but the foam apps are just as good. more comes to personal preference

It offers a little more conventional cut when used with machine but is pretty tricky to get the technique right and I'm struggling to get the best from it.

If you are looking for a little more cut, then maybe look at some of the abrasive pre wax cleansers or maybe a finishing polish or P1
 
cheers chaps. I've used it already with a MF pad, but was just wondering if I could get more out of it using a hand cutting pad.
 
you won't notice any cut unless you use it via machine. it's not the product for that. if you want a product that will mix fill with cut look at rejuvenate, lime prime etc.
 
ta. Just looking at using up what I've got for now, won't be long as it's only a sample pot of Tripple. Think I'll give Rejuvenate a go early next year as I should be in a position to buy some more bits by then.

Recomend any pads to use with that?
 
rejuvenate by hand? again a MF applicator, the tri foam or AF's dual pad works quite well. allows a good split between filling with the added cut. But again with these products you're not going to get vast amounts of cut unless used with machine.

Maybe look into the lake country hand cut pads on polished bliss
 
who on here has used or owns the DAS6 pro version over the standard DA???? thinking of changing back from rotary and want to pick your brains
 
I had heard that the extra torque is more of a 'cruise control' as with the revised G220. is this like the speed control with the DDJ machines that when it bogs down it speeds up to compensate. Or is the extra power just that, and gives more torque to stop it bogging down?
 
I think the Pro definitely has more torque to stop bogging down hence the more powerful motor, I didn't like the look of the new G220 thing. The Das-6+ would probably be the only one i'd consider.

Any reason you're thinking of changing mate? I think the likes of the EP801 blur the lines a little mate. I couldn't go backwards although i'd own both for glazing etc if I was doing a lot of detailing.
 
wasn't keen at all on the EP800, the layout, the feel and balance of the internal movement. granted it provided better cut than the DA but not a lot more, and less than I'm getting with the Spin Dr. I'd consider the EP801 provided I could try it out first to see the balance of it's moving parts.

But I'm doing very little correction now. I'm too lazy, and I much prefer using the machines with glazes and pre wax cleansers instead of all out correction, and the DA's performed much better for this. Plus I can still get a decent level of swirl removal with DA, and I never do a whole car in one go so getting it done within a set time frame isn't a problem, if it takes me longer then so be it.

I'm starting to think a DA will better suit my casual needs if I'm honest.
 
tHEN A Sa6 is bang on for you mate. I went the same way at one point when I had the Puma. Was becoming boring.

Sounds like it's exactly what you need mate. I put up a thread on the das-6 work that Tim at CYC did on a KA, was ages ago. Was really impressive.
 
Gally has said all those points have been covered by the 801 Dave. Worth having a look.

The pro had more "bite" when I applied more pressure. This is going back a bit (f**k me, two to three years perhaps?!) but I had a test bonnet and tried the two at the same time as wet sanding. The pro was easier to remove 2000 grit marks with the same pad/polish combo. I can't remember if there was a heat difference at the time (thinking about plastic wings here) but I wouldn't consider the standard DAS-6 if moving back from a rote.
 
Mis-read the last part of your post - talking to Kev about Amigo, I ended up not plugging in the PC7424 and applying it on 900 (speed 1) with the Silverline rote. It's a very heavy machine, but actually found it easier than RMGlaze by 7424. Could be the glaze, could be that my arms were used to the rote after 7 hours correcting with it...
 
will have a play with the amigo sample on rotary then, but typically I've not thought the DDJ was as nice using with LP, rejuevenate etc.

pretty sure someone of DW in Ashford, Kent has the 801 (-KEV-) so might try and talk him into letting me try it out
 
Yeah accepted. Correction side of things I'm happy with after the days at AF, Russ was quite good and did a bit if one to one tuition with me. But glazing etc that I do more of I'm not happy with the results.

If the pro version is able to offer a little more cut over the standard DA but where I can still glaze well I'd consider dropping back. As I say I'm only a casual user and don't offer machine work on anyone else's cars apart from glazing / cleansing
 
Ok i have a question: Im not satusfied with the amount of correction with my DA and foam pads (hex logic) so im looking at the megs mf pads. Now i already have menz 106fa, will this be good enough/ and how does it compare to the megs correction polish, D300 iirc?


Now i dont own a pdg and this is only for my car so im happy to go this far - although im very cautious. And i have been pratising alot with glazes with my DA and tried the 106fa twice on my bonnet, around 20 passes each time but only removed say 50% swirls, if that.
 
My car gets dirty so fast, I do quite alot of miles so I guess I shouldn't be suprised.
But to wash it and it be really dirty a week later (which is 300 odd miles later) is just depressing after spending hours cleaning it.
My current LSP is AG HD, after a decent amount of preperation.

What else can I use that'll last longer? Do I have to go down the ceramic route?
Then I can quickly pressure wash it to freshen it up a little.

Considering the Zaino finishing kit, seems recommended by a lot of people. However, is this best for my needs?

Advise please?
