Gaz.'s Honda Accord Type R (VTEC Kicked in etc)

The way Clio's frustrate me and please me all in one go is why i've had 3. I can see your logic though Gaz, when it does f**k up i really do think Honda/Mazda.

But for that brisk 1% when everything and i mean everything works; worth it all day long.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. My mk1 can be tiresome (low, rattley dash, occasional drip from the sunroof) especially with the amount of miles I'm racking up nowadays. However, last night I took it out for a drive just for the sake of doing so and realised just how much fun it really it. I'll regret selling it.

You still thinking of getting shot of the ATR Gaz?

I haven't updated this in a while, mainly because all that's happened is things breaking!

In November, I cracked the rear bumper trying to convince it to return to it's correct shape, then I also drove through a flood which ripped my front splitter clean off, bar 2 1" square pieces left under the screws holding it on.

Then last week the clutch decided it was fed up with life, seemingly having thrown a friction pad out judging by the symptoms.

So, with that happening, the car will be getting fixed up, and sold. I'm not enjoying it anyway so why continue paying for a car I dislike?

Which brings my little update, I painted the rocker cover seeing as that'll help my sale. It's VHT wrinkle red, and I'll let the pictures do the talking...

I've also put my coilovers I never got the interest to fit up for sale, and will refurb the Evo X wheels and sell them too.

Will fitting the coilovers the wheels and the clutch aid the sale? or is the vtec y0 market not up for stuff like that?

The accord market isn't, it's full of miserable middle aged dicks who think they are the best car ever made. So the coilovers and wheels are being sold separately, and are worth far more to me that way anyhow.

Changing the clutch will aid the sale mind.

Rocker looks great! Shame your not enjoying the car, GLWTS when you get round to it though!

What you looking to replace it with?

Not sure. I can't afford anything I truly want.

I'm toying with maybe getting an E46 330Ci, at least it's RWD, has a half decent image and will sound better. However, it seems the newest, lowest mileage, black or grey, hardtop with a manual box isn't for sale ATM. I've not driven one yet (or even really seen one in the flesh) to see If I like them though.

The s**t noise it makes, especially on Vtec.
No torque until about 500rpm before Vtec.

I'm sure it would be a lot better on a track stuck in it's powerband, but frankly I don't want to drive like a 17 year old boy just to get it to move in a hurry out in the real world. It's just tiresome.

Nope. It seems you either love them, or hate them, and if you love them, then you become a complete and utter mindless spastic who can't acknowledge there are other cars than Hondas.

I had one guy try telling me he tore an RX7 a new one in his, so I asked him if it was on the back of a recovery truck, because even on twisty B roads there's no contest. They're all as deluded.

Lol, no offence, but that's how all jap petrol heads come accross.

I agree, I saw some jap car nerd post a pic up on facebook trying to claim an EP3 CTR in the same league as an Escort Cosworth (!!)

Shame you don't like the car, a mate of mine is selling his as he couldn't get on with it either, his is the aubergine colour.

I couldn't own a 200 SX. There's just too much rot. Heard so many horror stories.

Pity you can't gel with it mate but like you say they can divide opinion. I know when I went from my GT Turbo to the 172 despite having more power etc I missed the lazy/effortless punch of the turbo and having to stir the box/keep the engine singing to get the most out of it.

Yeah true.

But then I have a mate who imports cars and some of the dodgy dealings going on at the export/import docks scare me! tbh, I'm just not familiar enough or confident enough with them.

With fords/renaults I know what i'm talking about and as such i'm confident in buying them, as you are with Jap stuff.

Genuinely miss my 200 the most out of all the cars I had, I want a onevia at some point as a toy but for now I'm happy being a vagfag lol

Honestly never driven an accord type R. Really fancied one as they were said to be not far behind the Integra in terms of handling. How do you find the chassis when you lean on it a little?

That's totally missing the point, an Escort Cosworth is an iconic car, an EP3 Type R isn't really, not even near in the desirability stakes.

You didn't say how he was comparing it... Performance/handling its prob pretty close, rareness and etc obv not... But I doubt anyone would compare the two on that.

I can tell you a Vtec fan then :)

Something with boost sounds much more up your street . The fact that you have to work the Vtec engine hard is part of its charm for me . It demands that you put the effot in or it will give you nothing in return .
