Serious????  Lol and I get a feeling you may be buying one

Wooden spoon and all that. Contemplating it mate got someone wanting to buy mine, wasn't even officially advertised. When you down in Cheshire, will meet up

It's crazy fast such an awesome car which I will one day own :)

Was doing low 8's at the ring which in my eyes is decent

Should go decent then. Been speaking to a mate tonight with a 400bhp Evo 6 reckons it would have no chance out with that lol

Put some money on it ;) as long as your rolling from about 30/40 you'll stay with him hopefully.

I've been having some banter with them all about the little French thing they all look down on ( cossies evos scoobys ect ) will be pushing them round tracks soon lol

Can't wait to see the transformation. I'm hoping for roughly 250 which scoff said can get no problem so should be good

Probably because you can drive too, throttle control seems to be impossible for most people in these cars but I find its a doddle!

Sorry McCrae.

i won't call you a liar chip, I just mean the clio won't hold down circa 300bhp like a 4WD Evo would for example. That's not to say the power isn't useable, it's just learning to drive your car in the most plentiful way you can, after owning the turbo clio for a few weeks, you then learn the optimum way to put as much power as you can. I agree though, it's still very useable power.

Yeah I noticed, you nearly even caused a fatal bmw crash (you didn't he just went a bit 'I've got a BMW on you')

Tbh mate I didn't think I'd be anywhere near upto that pace

He will have more bhp per tonne than you, he'll have probably twice your torque and hell have 4 wheel drive. And If he's a half decent driver he will murder you round a track too, Evo's are amazing cars to handle massive power and put it to the road. but obviously a lot will disagree with me, it's a clio forum. And clio's are the best handling cars in the world.

Would weight not play a factor? But your right driver will and does make a good difference

As Dan (iw) said, have you got both?

Mate had a 400bhp Evo V and he pulled away just when I had 230, with 250 as I said earlier, I was dead even with an VIII with 400bhp. It'll be even from a rolling start

Do you need to have both to know? I've had a micra but I haven't had a 458 Italia, does that mean I can't say it's faster?

ive owner a 260/251lbft clio turbo on a good setup, and I've had friends with circa 400bhp evo 5 and 8 , actually a little bit less than 400bhp and I can tell you out of personal experience the evo is a better and faster car.

Must be down to the driver then as was even when we had a play ;)

Unfortunately the Evo is less reliable too!

I had my clio turbo for 4 months, didn't you have one or two your self for a couple of weeks dannyR? Oh yeah they set on fire. Good previous post earlier "they are as reliable as a standard clio 172" good joke really.

you can believe who you want OP but let's just put it this way, your mates evo 6 is running around 300-320bhp per tonne, you will be running around 225-235bhp per tonne, he will have about 150-200lbft more than you, and all your power will be running through your front wheels without a diff, his will be running through 4 wheels. Anyway you already said , you e passengerd in it and you know it's capability. You don't need a troll off the web telling you your clio is the fastest car in the world.

however all the encouragement to go ahead and turbo your clio, ill tell you ime they are incredibly fun, and a great thrill seek. Just hold on because they torque steer like a slut, still that may of been the turbo I was running, which is a different one to what k-Rex and ED give you.

I love how these threads pan out. Good on you dan for building the car, max dude points. So you can't beat a 400 evo, ah well in sure you won't lose too much sleep. What's the expression built not bought

I had one for 6 months which did 10k with no problems, it caught fire due to the carpet behind the engine setting light after it dropped onto the manifold. Nothing to do with the supercharger and not exactly a reliability issue. SC @ 230/200

I had the RSTuning demo car which blew all its oil out after a week, it went back and when driving back the gearbox went. As I said before under 300bhp is fine. On the local speed run I was getting figures higher than an R6 etc... SC @ 330/250

I then built my own which I had for 6 months until having to sell for a house. I took this car to the Nurburgring within 500 miles of building it on the driveway. Out of 4 Clios I was the only one that had zero problems and still got 400 miles to a tank. After putting too much boost through it I eventually started to breathe a little oil. SC @ 231/210, this was also towards the end of its life, circa 250 before.

The 330 one probably was one of the quickest, and having driven and built Clios of this nature I'm very capable of saying how they perform, and now all my friends are too. Nobody believes until they see it ;)

You asked a question, I replied.

Do a few trackdays in a 400bhp and a 300bhp clio and you will notice 2 main things IME:
1) the evo will be a little quicker over a full lap as its faster coming out of the bends
2) the clio will cost about half as much to run in terms of tyres/clutch/fuel etc

R26 meganes are pretty reliable, no reason a turbo clio cant be too, but obviously things like the box are going to fail sooner with the extra loads on them.

The one you had was all over the place because of play in the suspension and steering, TBH by the time you had finished with it (not blaming you in anyway when you use a car daily you dont notice it getting worse bit by bit) it was pretty much what I would call dangerous, but it wasnt when Jack first built it and its fine now again too, there really is very little torque steer at all.
