An error free dash is so nice to look at its mad. Makes those 5 miles so sensual until the post cat throws an EML 😂
The datsun got a 330 nardi but came with a toty wee bloody thing as well like a go cart wheel but could do woth something maybe 300ish
This thread is proof to the adage that if you give a monkey a typewriter and infinite time, he will eventually bang out Shakespeare. Well done, looks ace. Small steering wheel was one of my favourite things in HOU. I remember going karting, coming out afterwards, and realising the wheel in my car was the same f**king size

Haven't updated here in a long while!
CSF the car was faultless. Went out in the AM session on road tyres, it was a bit greasy so it meant I could get used to the track. Came in at about 11am after a few sessions out, swapped to my track wheels and swapped the PBS pads up front for DS1.11.
Had one issue where I tried to put some 15mm spacers on, the Braid wheels I got for track have a much lower ET than the 2118 so wanted to reduce the offset. But because the spigot of the hub protrudes about 16mm they didn't sit flush and it caused a right palava, thought I'd fucked it big time. There was brake fluid drips (taste tested) on the floor in the garage but thankfully it was just coming out of @TRH_Racing car instead🤣🤣
After putting the 20mm spacers back on it felt immediately better, the brakes worked and it wasn't wobbling. So first session out the car just felt completely different on the AR1. I never got to use them properly at Cadwell because of the diff seal issue nearly igniting the car. They still struggled hammering them and I realised my car needs a bit more midrange grunt, its hopeless on the standard map
Due to the lack of a photographer there weren't many pics
I have bought a couple of little bits for this which I'm still waiting for and will update at a later date. Hopefully have everything sorted before CSF this year
Just insured it for another year with Adrian Flux, I might have to sack them off though. £811 for 3,500 miles on a policy. I can't see me using this much on the road anymore, maybe a few times a year, it's gonna spend the rest of the time travelling on the back of a trailer
Who else are people insuring their track cars with? I'd like to keep it insured just for peace of mind and the fact then I can use it on the road if needed, I'm unhappy paying that much for a car that won't even do 1000 road miles! They're taking the absolute piss

I’ve been using the Cuvva app for my new toy. Like you, AF wanted a kings ransom so I fooked them off. Now I just insure it for a day or so if I want to move it out of storage and work on it at home. Costs me around £20. I’ll be doing that going back and forth to Croft this year as I’m damned if I’m insuring it 12 months a year when it'll only come out half a dozen times.

I’m with Greenlight, all mods declared 5k miles and that’s £23 a month I think after looking through my bank statement. That’s also commuting and social use too. That’s with it being kept on a drive in the arse end of nowhere and me having a load of NCB mirrored and then 3 years on its own policy.

Its actually embarrasing that a "specialist modified car insurer" can't even beat a price comparison website
This is with mods included 1500 miles a year. £209 cheaper than what Flux have offered to me

Flux wanted 6 f**king grand to insure the 5 series. They're a bunch of jokers
Never had a bad experience with their staff, they've all been spot on, very helpful and everything is easy to change and their portal is good. Its a shame their underwriters are just total charlatans and will end up costing them their business

I insured my RB with them when I lightly modified it last year. They told me the more modified the car, the cheaper it would be. When I bought that 182 hill climber last year and put the RB back to stock, the price almost doubled when I went to switch the policy. £660 for an old geezer who’s never had a claim doing less than 1,000 miles p.a. I only pay £17 a month with e-sure for the RB with 12,000 miles p.a. Insurance is a joke sometimes. is there any wonder people drive around without any.
All this insurance talk and @DAN@ADRIAN FLUX hasn't turned up yet!

Flux insure my E34 on a classic policy with an agreed value. Were over £200 cheaper when I first got it than the closest. The price has doubled since then but still cheapest with them. I was annoyed when I asked them to quote for an E36 to see if I could afford it before viewing it saying just take the policy out to cancel it info didn’t buy it, then called me up a week later demanding why I didn’t buy it so I could take out the insurance with them. Will have to do a more of a comparison this year.
But honest try Greenlight. Have always been good for the Clio’s I’ve had. And good customer service, no price increase on any mods I’ve done, even adding my ITBs they didn’t increase it

I'll never go with Greenlight again. Their customer service is a total waste of time. I'd get more sense if I bent over in front of a mirror, and spoke to my own sphincter

Been with AF for the camper van last couple of years, but messed up and should have shopped around, I can get it easily 50% cheaper for better cover elsewhere now. They seem to be going a bit off tangent at the moment.

Im about the same for the datsun with all mods declared down side is it gets repaired to factory if anything happens, but being they are worth more standard than modded then si think I'm on a win
Need to be careful though as I don’t think Cuvva cover modified cars…

One thing I haven't posted is my coilovers
I bought these from someone breaking their track car, he took them off his car after I'd sent him money and snapped the front coilover threaded inserts. To be fair the guy selling them tried to contact Spax who said it would be £175+VAT per shock to have the insert machined out and replaced. I think they were taking the piss and said I'm still interested and he knocked £100 off
I took them down to Bridgecraft engineering and was reassured that something could be done with them
Allan stripped them down, got the old inserts out and gave me a ring which went something like "yeah I've got the inserts out and in just on with making some new ones. The old ones were hollow..."
Yes you read that right, they put f**king hollow inserts into the top of each coilover
Allan got the new inserts all sorted and basically said that the new inserts will need machining out should they ever fail. However having their hubs I can say nothing they do will fail🤣
All back together, new inserts. Just need to ACF them and fit some covers
Not bad for £180 plus some money to get them fixed by Allan👀

So with my above list set out to get done I cracked on this weekend
First I got my coilovers out, gave them a good clean and a liberal spray of ACF-50
Got the front end stripped down and on first
I then thought "now would be a perfect time to change the oil"
Aye would have if I hadn't left my drain pan at work like a f**king mongtard
So instead I got the rears on
Whilst under there I gave the usual rusty places a good spritz with ACF
And cleaned the wheels (did the fronts too)
Fitted and back down. The front toe is way out now because I've added more camber, it was -2.3⁰ before and I reckon there's even more now🤣

Can't believe none of the CS nonces have noticed I removed the wind deflectors
Anyway, headlight blanks. I've got a pretty mint set of black insert xenons so I wanna keep them mint. Headlight blanks for track it is
Cut the backs off some old headlights I had lying about and marked up where I want the 100mm bass port to go
But of fettling and it was in and snug
I used some JB weld and fireproof mastic to seal it in as it's what I had lying about
Primed
Painted in raptor liner as it's what I had in the garage. Fine enough for who it's for
Came home from work tonight and changed the oil. Didn't bother writing the mileage on the filter this time because it's done about 1500 miles in 14 months
Bought a new pair of Corbeau clubsport XLs about a fortnight ago
Gave them a good clean and they came up alright
After changing the oil I cracked on and managed to get the passenger side one done before it started really raining. My Jon Foz frames that are supposed to be universal fitting that aren't universal fitting now have more holes in
Fits loads better than the OMP seats
Made up some Clio plate blanks too for when I pull the reg plate off

Came home last night and cracked on with fitting the drivers side bucket. Got it all hunky dory and happy with the seating position
I made the passenger one match too because it felt a lot better a bit lower down with a slight amount of rearward angle. A nice edition is that my doors shut easier now🤣
Tracking booked for Monday, then I just need to give it a good clean and wash, fit my headligh blanks and I'm good to go
