Titanium MrBlonde

As some of you may know already,i had an accident in my Cup & hit a barrier. In a nutshell,Raining very early cold morning on AD80rs (close to the limit) back end stepped out going up a banking corner.Still Drives fine tho, just wasnt worth me repairing,So decide on getting a 182 but in Silver.

So i found one and got up early on a Sat morning to head to south wales.

So this one is on 53k 2 owners & one of the very last ones & standard, previous owner also has a lovely Mars Red V6.

So plan is to get all the good bits off the cup & transfer onto the 182 then break or sell the cup as a whole car.

Couple of Photos of the Cups damage

My headlights started to show signs of going a little bit yellow. So asked Mark @Jekyll if wouldnt mind restoring them again. There were in good condition considering last done 3 years ago to this month. As always Mark done a great job and protected again with a ceramic coating.

If you live about an hour away from Harlow and would like yours also done, drop Mark a message.

Thanks for the kind words mate.

Was funny that unknown to us, being 3 years to the week! Same the weather was a bit up and down but the end result was good 👍

Suspension advice needed please.

Currently on B14's but there over 10 years old now,so looking to either get another set or go down the BC route. Its a fast road set up clio,so no track use apart from a trip to nurburg next year.

So looking at peoples opinons on both set ups please and what spring rate,as they start at 4kg for the fronts.

Also if i go BC i will be doing the fully rear coilover conversion.

Also Turinis have been Sold😬

What's it rolling on now then?
Painting the evo wheels again & back on them. The turinis are just not 100% with pitting etc & just lets the rest of the car down.Drives better on the 15s i think,i will look out for another set of turinis tho but a decent set.

Marks putting them on his car 😬

Just a few photos from this Sundays meet.

Seriously thinking to sell the clio tho.

Maybe step up to a Meg

Still looks tidy bro.

I’ve no doubt you’ve had this conversation with yourself a lot mate, but what are you looking for from the next car that the Clio doesn’t give you?

I had to run a small errand in mine tonight through the lanes out to Bradwell and it hit me so hard just how good it is to drive. It just feels so right everything I want in a fun hot hatch.

My issue is our family life is forcing me to get something bigger and more useable than my 182. If I wasn’t forced to, I think I’d be keeping mine.

Do it mate, can’t see you not liking the Megane. Presuming you mean a 265? I often look at them and think how it’s the perfect weekend toy and occasional track car. Bloody love them, especially with a Clubsport build 👌

Yes mate 250,265 etc depends on whats about at the time.280 would be mega if i could hold out and save more

I can't recommend the 250/265 enough, best driver focused car I have owned and the car I have owned the longest. I think the 280/300 (latest shape Megane) is focused more towards a daily driver and unless you need 5 doors, then I'd opt for the Mk3. Really is a great car.

Thanks mate, still not sure on what i want to do.I dont need the 5 doors,so would prob go for the 265 if i do.Question next is what would i put the 182 up for along with loads of parts and oe seats i still have.

I’ve driven a 275 Trophy R (some while ago) and a Meg 300 Trophy more recently.
I think the big change between the 2 is the massive step up in cabin quality. The Mk4 Meg feels like a much more premium product.
Certainly the most premium Renaultsport product I’ve driven.

As above though mate, unless you’re looking for that extra or the additional doors, the 265/275 are absolutely superb cars.

So bit of an update and change of things.Met up with @frayz during the week to catch up on things.Frayz kindly let me take out his well set up 182,it drivrs so well, funny thing is both of our cars are pretty identical with mods.Apart from his superb asts, which then got me thinking thats what im missing on my 182,also being my B14s are over 10 years old now.

After a lot of research and chatting to few other members,i spoke to BC which they recommended me what series and spring rate to go for.

So i orderded the BR series with 4.5kg Front and 6kg rears, which should work well just for fast road use.

I still have a PMS rarb in the shed to fit,but questioning if i actually need it along with the front pms strut brace and top mounts,as i just want it best suited to our B Roads in the uk.

Goose decision mate👍. You'd definitely regret selling the clio, it's a beauty. I'd fit the rarb, it'll help on track with the dampers set to hard.

Hope all is good Steve, what kind of price are the BC's if you don't mind sharing, still haven't bought any new for the Ph1, need to get something organised (y)

Even just for road use?.its the pms not whiteline,so not sure if the pms is more hardcore to the simple design of the whiteline?

Arb won't make any difference to ride quality at all. Only comes to life in the corners and it sharpens them right up.

I have been recommened to use 170lb springs with this conversion
170lbs is roughly 3 kg/mm so that’s half of what BC Racing recommended?

More compliant/comfortable for sure, but a bit more prone to understeer if you’re pushing on during cornering.

Yeah it is,but the fella doing the conversion said about the rate.Because of the "That's where it gets complicated as there's a lever ratio to factor in on the rear axle"

Im not set on that rate yet,so would be good to see what others think.I know when mark got his,he put on 225lbs.But his bc's originaly came with 8kg rear springs.

I have the size i need to get, just need to work out the rate

Motion Ratio - Rob Boston was trying to explain this to me when he was setting mine up. Something about 182s having a lower than ‘1’ ratio due to the design of the axle. I confess i didn’t fully understand it, but nodded my head in agreement. 😂

Haha like me mate,im shite when comes to maths etc @Mr Underhill

Is there anyone i can ask about this?.just want to make sure i get the right spring,as dont want to keep trying etc
