This is a game changer, our 48" TV we have in the living room, I've started moving the sofa bang square 2 metres from the TV and watching movies that way. Experience is a million time better than where I used to sit.

Mrs does go mental me dragging the sofa around the floor every night but she can GTFO if she doesn't like it.

I like that website, tells me I do need to upgrade to 65 🤣

Wanting to get a 65” tv, this seems a decent price but any comments on it?

Reviews look good.

Not wanting to spend loads, just got some backdated pay from the fire service so thought I’d treat myself.

It’s either this or a sage barista though 😔

Chaps, what do people recommend for a 48-50" TV for the bedroom?

Ideally I want the quality to be as good as the living room 65" LG OLED tv and I don't want anything that looks s**t

Not really sure on budget but are there any old stock of oled tvs for cheap?

Hisense 50" TV for something daft like £279.

Its actually not bad at all. Like, really.

I expected it to be a bit s**t but its not bad whatsoever.

@seb - you mentioned that the backlight is a bit weird on yours. I noticed the same, it seems to auto dim/brighten the screen depending on what its displaying. Almost like a flicker? I changed the picture settings (Movie, Sport etc etc) to the 'Dynamic' mode and it seems to have fixed it.

the 'dynamic' mode seems to have made it way better so I didnt investigate.

Ill have a look later on tonight to double check but come to think of it, I think I disabled some eco mode thing!

Thanks for the tip :)

Do you have any issues with your HiSense TV not picking up HDMI? Sometimes I put on the xBox and it just doesn't register and sits at a black screen, need to either switch the xBox off and on or the TV at the wall.

Also my arc to sound system is flakey, keeps the connection but drops the speakers putting all the sound out the sub. Like its sending a crap signal. Change it to TV speakers for a bit and then back to ARC and it works. Very odd, I have cable tied the HDMI to the speaker cables but I wouldn't expect that to make a difference.

No mate!

In all fairness, it's a bedroom TV. Alright, the fire stick is plugged in but it's no sky box or whatever. So maybe I'm not the best person to ask. However, it's been relatively flawless for me.

A couple of minor issues that I'm willing to overlook based on the age of the TV: The flickering on screen brightness gets tiresome but I've reduced it a lot by changing settings. On the YouTube app, after an ad, I tend to get a totally black screen for about 3-5 seconds and then it fires back into life again. Must be an app glitch.

Otherwise, so good for the money!

Bit of a silly question maybe, but is there an optimal size for an OLED TV, like once you get to a certain size the picture quality starts to drop off? or for a home purpose, 55", 65", 75" makes no difference?

No there is definitely a drop off. Nilay from the Verge was just talking about this. The 80" was definitely worse than the smaller sizes, hence why reference monitors are so small.

Not sure if he mentions it in this article but definitely true. 65" and 55" seem the sweet spot.

The bigger the screen, the worse the picture quality, as it's still the same resolution stretched over a larger area, but you also have to consider viewing distance.

Going to be about 4 metres away so was between 65" and 75", I think I'll save the money and go 65".

Looking at a viewing calculator is says 85" for 3.8m. That will take up almost the whole wall! No chance.

Thats why distance matters, its not just about how much your eyes have to move to see the whole screen its also about how well your eyes can render the gap between the pixels.

You know those theme park screens, from 100m away they look decent, when you get next to them each LED is like a CM away from the next.

LG G3s are looking like a bargain now, might pick another one up.

Also hate the fact the G4 is winning everything 😠

I would recommend 65. I wouldn’t go bigger now. If anything I’d consider a very good 55. Really want Sony as my next one.

Next year the G5 will be winning everything so I wouldn't worry that much tbh. I went C7 to C1 and besides size difference and a few features normal people wouldn't notice the difference. Tbh I'd probably always go for the previous years version going forward because I don't think there's that much improvement to be made now unless we start talking about 8k or something.

65" Samsung I've got. I think it's a perfect size. 5" bigger would maybe work but 65 is good

I’m about 4.25 metres away from the screen with a 65”.

As much as I’d probably have liked to bump up to the 77” model in the range, the combination of it being over 50% more expensive and the fact it’d look a bit dominating in the room meant the 65” was the winner.

If it was a dedicated cinema room then would go for biggest possible (TV or projector).

I'm in the market for a new 55" Tv and currently considering the Samsung QE55Q80C, unless anyone can recommend something better for a budget around £800?
Is it worth waiting until Black Friday for the deals, or is it true that the manufacturers just roll out cheaper models for the sales?

I've just bought a 55" Nano Cell 4K TV directly from LG - https://www.lg.com/uk/.

They offer a discount for creating an account, plus there are some really top-notch deals 24/7/365. I couldn’t find a better price at Currys, Richer Sounds, etc., and they deliver directly to your door within a few days.

This is our 5th LG in the house, with the last 3 purchased directly from LG. I can't be bothered with PC World's nonsense.

We still have our first 20-year-old 40" dumb TV upstairs, and it’s still working great. Never had a single issue with LG TVs.

Mine was £799, but after the membership discount, it went down to £538. Then they sent me a voucher for an extra £100 off, so I got a 2024 TV for £438, plus they gave me 3 months interest-free.

Worth a look, in my opinion.

Check Richer Sounds. They have always been by far the best company to buy TV/audio stuff from.
They know their stuff, that's for sure. I was looking at an LG TV in their shop and I asked him about online deals and the guy said "to be honest Jon, go directly to LG as it'll be cheaper". That's service for you. I occasionally go in for cables and to look at stuff, but it's right in the middle of town and a proper chew on with parking.

I just don't get the projector thing except for maybe football with mates in the gazeebo or something, they always look washed out to me. Well non 10k ones anyway. Consumer level.

I must be missing something as everyone puts a projector in their man cave/tv cinema room. My Uncle did the same and i'd rather have been in his livingroom on his big samsung.

Needs decent projector + dark room really.

Been looking at this

Always had Samsung TV’s but have also been looking at the LG G3 evo’s

Samsung is winning at the minute due to having a stand included (don’t want wall mounted) & it has a smart box that you plug everything into to reduce wires into the back of TV.

Is there an updated version of something like this anywhere?

Not looking for anything special just a half decent bedroom TV but found that link helpful a fee years back.
Not looked this year but the guy seems to have stopped doing them.

I think general consensus is still best bang for buck is an LG Oled C series. They do smaller ones now too.
