Came home last night and cracked on with fitting the drivers side bucket. Got it all hunky dory and happy with the seating position

View attachment 1702438

I made the passenger one match too because it felt a lot better a bit lower down with a slight amount of rearward angle. A nice edition is that my doors shut easier now🤣

Tracking booked for Monday, then I just need to give it a good clean and wash, fit my headligh blanks and I'm good to go
Read as slight amount of r****d angle

So Monday, booked tracking in for the afternoon. The drive over there was massively fun until I got stuck in traffic

The car had massive amount of front camber as I maxed the slots out on the coilovers. So much so that it was nearly -5⁰🤣

Bit of fettling and we're at -3⁰

Need to shim up the rear to get a bit of camber and to straighten the toe a bit since I've fitted the coilovers

Quick pic in Shell. £54 to fill it, wish the 5 series was that f**king cheap

Dropped the car off at work. Parked up and smoke billowed out from underneath the bonnet and this happened

Hose had popped off but I wasn't happy how loose the pipe was clamping so bought a new expansion tank. Might as well for £16

The outlets had been overtightened by the fat stupid ham handed c**t (me) that did them up last time

New fresh genuine type D

Many orange bolts

Will keep an eye on it and hope it doesn't do it again

f**king show off with your still blue steering wheel 🙄
Car looks great though, the headlight blanks make it look like an absolute weapon (like the driver 😘)

How's your NSR tyre?

It was rubbing good and proper coming out of Peel down towards the Crorkscrew 😅
Self clearanced 😂 I think it was @Sir_Dave who came over and went "your rear tyre is puffing loads of smoke round every right hander". Not exactly great when it's 90% right handed corners at Anglesey

I need to get some rear camber shims ordered and probably use my cup racer 2118s instead of these Braid wheels with daft offset

What offset are they?

Bet it was making some right noises.

I couldn't hear f**k all over the sound of the car tbh 😂 I think they're something daft like ET25, they were custom made by Braid to whoever spec'd them. I reckon they'd be perfect without any spacers, except they just catch my brakes ever so slightly

At one point I thought my OS driveshaft started to click it's c**t off but it was just the tyre catching my bumper

A huge thanks and shout-out to @MarkCup. He said last year he wanted to come out in the Clio but never did and likewise I never went out in his Cayman. The amount of knowledge you shared was immensely helpful and I was flying in the afternoon in comparison to the morning ♥️

First of all. I've just taken my track wheels off, I suspect I need to have both arches repaired at some point this winter🥲😭

Many rubbers

Arch decided it was hungry and wanted to eat my tyre

Cadwell booked for the 10th with @SharpyClio

Not really much to do apart from charge the battery that's flat again. I think I've got a UCH parasitic draw so it'll get an isolator switch thrown at it soon because it's getting pretty annoying now. The central locking doesn't work from the key either, might have to put my spare ECU kit in it at some point and chuck a map on it. I've got a breaker 172 in so I'll steal the interior loom too because my fuel pump wiring has been spliced from when I put the cage in and fucked it

I'm hoping to kill off my AR1 so I can sell the Braid wheels and get some new tyres wrapped on the cup racer 2118s. Got a Tessa inlet on the way, the cambelt is due on age so I might stick the inlet on and get it mapped at EFI and give the engine a good sendoff, still need to build my high spec engine but can never be fucked and life gets in the way

TL;DR ADHD

Thanks

Cadwell 10/09/2024

Started off by hooking the battery up to the Clio... Wouldn't start, battery was on 7v😑 Off to Euros I go, £68 later and I have a fresh Bosch S4, didn't want to risk charging it and then it still being shagged and ruining my day

6am Tuesday morning, locked and loaded

Dinnertime pause whilst the rain rolled in

20240910_124311.jpg

The car was pretty much faultless but has highlighted a few things

  1. I'm a slow driver, having only done 5 laps of Cadwell last year I was keen to keep the car and myself in one piece so I was very easy on it and took my time (unlike some of the spastic c***s yesterday that decided to just dive up the inside of you mid corner)
  2. The car has more pace, I was very easy on the brakes and only had a few moments where I thought I was gonna run out of track but still managed to get it round
  3. Coming under the bridge and into turn 11 the car kept jumping out of 3rd and into neutral because of the sudden bump in the track. The first few times it caught me off guard and I had to hold it into gear after that
  4. AR1 are awful in the wet, properly properly awful, I had a moment coming into hairpin where the arse end tried to come around on me. I corrected it pretty quickly but snapping the steering wheel to one side with no power steering caused me some right jip with my dodgy wrist. I was just too lazy to swap to my wet wheels because it looked like it was drying up (which it was)
  5. I kept slipping/slouching down in my seat, every so often I'd have to boost myself back up to avoid crushing my tezzies with the crotch strap
Overall I had a great day, me and @SharpyClio had 2 mega-long sessions in the morning where we must have been out for a good 30 mins at the very least. I did another 2 afternoon sessions before calling it quits at about 4pm because the rain just wasn't letting up and everyone else had fucked off too. The purple Puma, the MK5 Golf GTI and the Blue Fiesta we're mobile chicanes through the day and just never seemed to let off whenever they did move over, useless f*****s

In other news my inlet has arrived

Are you planning to fit the Tessa as it is, or going for a cam upgrade at the same time?

Car looks spot on btw!
I'm undecided

Got 3 options though

  • Build new engine with 200 engine parts, fit Tessa inlet then map @ EFI
  • Put 200 cams in my engine, fit Tessa inlet then map @ EFI
  • Put Tessa on and map @ EFI
I've already got the 197 cam timing tool and this engine does need a cambelt and the lower pulley is pretty shagged. I have all the bits apart from the belt kit, just CBA innit

The logical thing to do would be to throw the cams in, put a new crank damper pulley on whilst I'm in there, it gets a fresh belt and then the inlet. That should see me around 190bhp I'd hope, it'd be good fun too. Then just leave it as is for a while until I get the urge to build an engine

Personally I'd go throw the 200 cams in and the inlet, then go get it mapped. Might as well get the most bang for you buck from the map session, rather than having to go back again in the future if you only did the inlet.

Might as well do what I did and throw on the PMS lightweight pulley kit while you're at it
