F31 330D xDrive

Another member to bimmersport.net.

I moved the 8V S3 on, it did many things really well, but just left me cold and I didn’t even get the smallest pang of regret as it drove away, so I guess that means it was the right decision! Plus I had convinced myself I need an estate as I have a 7 week old now, and I must admit I’m loving the amount of crap you can chuck in the boot.

I was set on a 330D, then a 335D, then in the end all I cared about was the correct spec as there’s not much between them.

Nearly compromised and went for a nice 335D in Bristol but just had that nagging doubt I would regret getting a poor spec’d car, like I did on my S3. Couple of days this popped up and within 3 days I was setting off 250 miles to collect…

Quick clean and it’s no longer shiny and full of someone else’s grime. Not perfect but better.

Lovely!
I find the spec on these is what makes me keep them long term. I’ve had so many BM’s where they’ve been poverty spec and I just don’t gel with them..
great purchase. 👌🏽

It's hard to find an F31 335d with good spec

I must have spent 6 months looking for one and just gave up in the end. They were either nearly 20k or had been crashed into Temu headquarters and sold by someone with the surname Hussain or Pzgycholkyifhzagulashini

They are a decent car, I would advise getting it undersealed including inside the front wings, they start to get crusty underneath at that mileage

Really like that, i love that i only commute 10 mins to work, but when i see these i wish it was longer so i could justify buying a 330/335d, be interesting to see how you find it pace wise compared to the S3, spec is really good, i am sure you won't regret buying it.

First up was sorting out CarPlay. I’d seen on the sale ad that it had the NBT display so knew it would be somewhat simple to update and activate.

Defined Coding updated the firmware from NBT Evo H to Y, then a £30 code and you have OEM CarPlay! If anyone is Sussex/Surrey way then I’d definitely recommend them.

I’m obviously researching remaps at the moment but there’s a few maintenance bits I want to do first. xHP seems to be the one for the gearbox?

To start I’m looking at the ZF gearbox service kit and also the fluid in both diffs.

Has anyone done the same and know if there’s alternatives to the BMW Hypoid G1 & G2, or shall I just suck it up and stick with OEM?
