This is probably a silly question, but does anyone know where to top the brake fluid up on a Mk1 172? It says in the book its between the coolant and the power steering, but i cant find it anywhere!
Thanks.
This was one of the cheaper problems to resolve with my 172. About £12 for the cable and £20 to fit. Very reasonable!
However, every other of the many problems I have encountered have been very expensive and the latest one (snapped bonnet cable which means a new bonnet) has made my mind up to...
The accelerator on my Mk1 172 was stiff when i first had it and then kept getting stuck. The throttle cable had started to fray where it goes into the engine. You could try checking that the cable is in good condition?
Thanks for the replies.
They did remove the bumper and had it on the ramp and took as much as they could out but still couldnt get anywhere near it. They did say that they would give it a real go if i wanted them too, but it didnt sound too promising.
My bonnet wont pop open, the release has gone all loose. Has anyone else had this problem? Just took it to a local garage and they have no idea how to open the bonnet other than cut through the bonnet itself and buy a new one. Surely this is not right?
Its a Mk1 172.
Cheers for any help.
Thanks for the advice. I have ordered a Magnex Oval Backbox. I have seen pictures of these on a Clio .... some have a bit of the back bumped cut away and some dont ... has anyone got one of these things and not had to cut the bumper?
Thanks
Thanks a lot for those links
George16v - Im based in Swansea. I know someone who will fit it for me ... so i just need to order the right parts in really
Another question I have is would the back bumper have to be modified for a new back box to be fitted, as the standard Renault ones are...
Thanks. I have already replaced the mid-section about a year or so ago ... so its probably knackered by now. To be honest, I dont know much about cars, so all this "cat back stuff" means little. Are there any places i can order one from? Or a website where I can look at prices? I dont mind...
I have a Mk1 Clio 172 and the backbox has just fallen off. Kwik-fit have quoted me £250 and Renault a similar amount, fitted. If im gonna spend that amount, are there any non-Renault back boxes that fit on a Mk1 172? Also, I quite like the sound it makes with no back box (LOUD!), so I would like...
Thats not as easy as it sounds! I tried it, broke with my left foot (have you ever tried doing that? DONT!), i think the ABS came on and it stalled. All good fun though. Next time ill wait until there are no other cars around!
I recently noticed that my oil level was dropping pretty quickly, so much so that the service light came on, and all the 000000 went to ------- on the trip computer. So i topped it up and put some cardbaord under the car overnight, and when i checked it this morning there was a little patch of...
Exactly the same happened to me. At first Renault wanted me to go through my insurance as it is very expensive to repair (they said well over 1,000 pounds). I refused as the airbags are supposed to go off after a "severe side impact" - so i just kept saying that. Is there any damage on your car...
I got a nail in one of my tyres about a year ago, took it to the local tyre dudes, 10 mins and £1.50 later it was fixed - no problems since (with the tyre that is)
Mine sounded like a diesel once - i had the following stuff done to it:
Replace alternator belt - £61.20
Replace expansion chamber? - £36.30
Sounds ok now, that was about 5k miles ago at 17k
Does anyone know where i can get one of these for a Mk1 172? Aparently Renault dont do a 2 litre Clio, and when they finally remember that they do, they dont use accelarator cables, it all electrical (yeah whatever).
Cheers
I had a sticky accelerator pedal on mine. I followed the cable (from the engine side down) and about 10 inches down found that it was lodged between some other pipes. Anyway, I pulled it clear so that it hang loose and the difference was very noticeable. The pedal feels much lighter and its much...
