Cheers and thanks. I see that you have a coveted Rallye and 205 GTi6 - With the latter my friends and I were debating over which engine to put in - the light but fragile Mi16 unit or the 2.0 engine.
A few more things have happened since the last update but I shall upload the pics first :).
FWIW @Fred@BTM once cut up 3 filters for a Clio Sport 1*2 and these were his findings:
Left: Purflux/Renault ; non return flap with a double spring valve
Middle ; Mann ; Non Return Flap - Single Spring valve
Right ; Unipart ; no return flap or valve, allegedly leaking everywhere the engine...
No, my student days ended a long time ago! I do however go climbing at the sports centre somewhere around twice a week.
Thanks for the comms, it's amazing what a polish and wax can do! It should look better with the Anthracite Turbines. As much as I love the Turinis it is nice to park again...
If it is the one I am thinking of that is in Leamington don't look at the LHS; the N/S quarter panel has seen quite a whack!
Grab the reg next time ; he works near me :).
Personally I would not touch the Q-Drive/Ocap POS.
On my old 205 GTi the drop links were shot within 2k and 3 years - all boots were scrap and I needed the car MOT'd that week. Q-Drive they were; I was due to sell the car that week, and the drop links were the difference between the MOT and not...
I guess I am part of the brigade...
TBH if the pistons are free you can generally push them back enough with the caliper in situ by hand. That is with the caliper still on the disc with the pads in place.
I have always preferred ceramic grease in place due to some cars having the grease...
Depends on whether the bottom hose was disconnected. I did this to save coolant going everywhere and to change the coolant as well.
Depends on who you talk to. Water is a better coolant than antifreeze with its heat transfer properties. But yes, on a modern ally engine I'd probably got with...
I've recently done the following to my car:
Washed it with a Dodo Juice washmit and Meguiar's NXT wash
Clayed it
Detailed with Meguiar's 205 with a Lake Country Orange pad
Collinite 476S.
So far it is not looking bad. We shall see how long the Colly lasts.
Seconded. They really have given my RST a new level of grip I never thought an old Ford could have.
In that case I'd discount the T1-Rs...
Any on those will be fine.
True but the Street compounds will be tricker to go off colour on track, and can take more heat.
My thoughts exactly, unless the owner knows something we don't.
As said I'd also go with 33 and 30. With my Clio around Cadwell during a wet November on nearly worn Conti CS3s up front and Toyos on the rear it put up a very good fight against the other cars. I am not a great driver but I was...
Alot of rolling roads do this TBH for a variety of reasons, not just to be arsy (cracking a sump, damaging and cleaning their equipment if this happens, not to mention the general hassle.
Saying that, my 944 got RRed and a couple of places in its lowered state, and TBH I wouldn't want a road...
It seems today I spotted a couple of 182 FFs.
The first one was a car with the Reg Y*05UHH. It had an aftermarket stainless exhaust was possibly lowered, he was attempting to have a play but there was no way I was going to rev the car up with the temp gauge still on the bottom! It had a Clio...
I was hoping my remap would sort it too. The remap was done locally so I may enquire with the local company.
I am tempted to go with RS Tuner, especially with it coming with the handset but I have heard that it can lock an ECU, to the point where other readers may not be able to read it. Is...
I almost went with PowerFlex bushes TBH. However, I heard reports that they could squeak. I am only changing my bushes because they have perished on the ARB.
If I got a pound for every thread titled misfiring I'd be a very rich man.
Anyway, My 172 is a great runner apart from one thing which this cold weather has highlighted; poor running from cold.
It runs fine and starts fine from cold. Maybe the car is a little keen on the throttle but that is...
At least from the dealer the rubber will last, or you hope anyway. It's what I went with anyway in the end.
I suspect the price is down to economies of scale ; you can bet there are plenty more non Sport Clios about, making it more worthwhile making a batch of bushes up.
Rumbled! TBH It's mostly a road car, but it does the odd trackday in addition to a couple of Javelin Sprint Days. If it was a 182 I may have considered doing the 750CC championship but I guess the tyre size would have been decided :).
With the above I guess the 16s have the edge but only by...
What did you notice?
My friend with the golf car battery did say that if the car had a drain on it like a CD player or immobilser it would require a recharge after a week.
Luck of the drawer I guess. How many miles do you cover in yours?
On a friend's 172 the balljoint was knocking after a year of it being a daily driver (I seem to remember he changed them a few times at one point) and on my 147 the upper arm went from being new to a failure within a year ; An...
I have the Uniroyal RainSport 3s on my Turbines (15") and my sister has them on her Mondeo (225/45R17).
If I am honest I have mixed feelings about the RS3s. They are great in the wet to the extent that I doubt you will find a better wet tyre. However, they are so so in the dry. They grip but...
That's funny. I agree the R888 has a little more grip, but the NS2-Rs don't seem to give up in 180 compound flavour. The R888s I managed to overheat on the 'Ring's GP circuit in a 205 GTi 1.6!
So does a friend of mine in the Lucas flavour :). He reckoned there was little difference between these and most lightweight batteries bar the price tag.
