You amaze me sometimes, you offer people next to nothing for parts on here in one thread and then say things like this in another... maybe £200-£250 if it has all the grills and fogs etc and really is mint, but not £300!
Ah I see got the wrong end of that one then. What I was trying to determine was has the car (not including running costs of course) cost you more than you think its was worth when you finished it?
I'd say it depends on your price... you'd be surprised a lot of people want a 182 but can quite afford one so an accident damaged one it a cheaper way to get one, in theory you buy it cheaper you sell it cheaper,
I have a 182 thats a CAT D and a 172 thats a CAT C. I buy my cars generally...
Matt you don't have talk some crap... I have bought many Cat C's in the past that haven't been that bad (direct from a salvage auction!)
The different categories are nothing do to with the amount of damage its purely based on the cost of repair vs the value of the car. If a 1995 clio has a door...
Yea a Cat C is noted on the Log book actually.. its about the only thing he said that i'd agree with though. I'll take a photo of one of mine when I get home and posted it up for you.
I agree. Every 'stolen recovered' car I have seen has been accident damaged.
The category is nothing to do with the level of damage. It is determine from the COST of the repair against the VALUE of the car.

Bought this for a project only used it once to strip the paint off my bicycle before I repainted it. Its a bit different from a sand blaster better in some ways.
Any questions feel free to ask me.
Sweet is that yours? If it is you appear to have been very honest about it faults in the advert, makes a nice change to see people describing a car as it actually is.
Have you got any more info on the LPG conversion? When was it done and by who, how bigs the tank etc.
Do you have a price...
I was there today with some of the RTOC guys, I spoke to you briefly about the car just after you had the results.
They did essentially say to every single one of the guys with a 5 that there car was running rich so I not sure what you can deduce from that but it may mean there was a fault...
My voluntary is £1000 and compulsary £250 so £1250 in total!
If I had set it lower my premium increased, I paid £1200 for the year if I had set the voluntary at £500 it was £1600 total, so I would have been paying £400 more to reduce my excess by £500 therefore in the event of an accident I...
No problem, Just out of interest are you planning on welding it in yourself? As I am and if you do yours first some detailed pics and a write up would be great to help me and anyone else wanting to do it. Otherwise I'll do one when I get round to fitting mine.
I am going to be fitting a cage in mine in the near future too...
I am going to be getting one of these: http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=3815&catid=10&appid=2&pic=2 The ORECA RACE cage. £669 including VAT.
Its the best for the money I have found! I think someone on here has one.
I am going to be doing this soon as well it is one plate under the car or two? And have you got a picture of where you mounted the left side strap (on the centre near the handbrake)
Glad you managed to get some more money off I really cannot understand the whole cheaper on the road business... they gave me some bulls**t reasoning that its because your drive might be shaded and offer protection to someone wanting to steal your car. I was like but my drive doesn't!! She then...
Jon,
Thats pretty pricey, mine has just renewed today on the 182 (i'm 22) and live round the corner from you. Mine came to £1200.
Thats with 2 years NCD, and a fault accident.
Mines with Admiral, but the best price I got was with Bell and Admiral matched it being sister companies. I...
My main reasoning for the photos is because not everyone lives within a close proximity to you. Some people may be 300-400 miles away which is a long trip to be disapointed when they arrive! I'm not in anyway saying your car will be disappointing but with 30-40 photos of each wheel, the engine...
Oh I've just done an insurance quote and its only £600 more than my 182, VERY tempted. £8500 seems very cheap! Although I haven't looked at there prices resently.
If my money wasn't tied up I'd be coming to look but I can't at the moment.
Your adverts very well written. Only thing I can...
If you shop about you can get them for 300-400, and what parts? Service bits is all you would need really. I don't mean to say it would be easy or ideal obviously it would be easier to get the belt done. But if you are handy yourself with the old spanners its not the end of the world if the belt...
Mines an 05 182 on 52k and I don't no if its been done - bought it salvage with no history. If its goes it goes. I've just not had the time to get it done. TBH it will probably cost nearly the same to replace the engine as it would to get the cambelt done so i'm not too arsed.
And my 172 is...
Its not a 172... its a 1.2 with a few bits off a sport on it, its someone i used to be friends withs brothers car.
Do you live in Sale? I am in Sale and I have a 182 with with P33 as the start of my reg.
