I'm not disagreeing, just would be good to know the science behind them. I could do with a few mm more clearance so fitting say 1 degree shims would help, but not if it increases the dreaded understear.,
Hummm. I totally agree with adding camber on the front, makes it twitchier on the straight but obviously then helps with grip when cornering. Surely though in a FWD car adding camber on the rear and making it gripper would promote understear??
Re-starting an old thread.......... Wont fitting rear camber shims increase rear-end grip and therefore increase understear??. Whereas on track I know I need to decrease understear by stiffening the rear shocks, therefore camber shims would be detrimental.
Did you trim your arches in the end? I've fitted some 30mm spacers and I think the tyres may be just touching now and again (strangely more with the T1R's on the road rather than the 888's on the track?!) so was planning to trim the arches a few millimetres with the Dremmel. Any tips?
From talking with Nick at PMS the new bushes were included with the kit as they were so cheap and as the old ones needed to be removed to fit the new selector rod it made sense to do so. My car has only done 25k and the old bush looked like new so when I thought the new one was a different...
I should've taken some I know, but threw them out yesterday when I tidied up the garage.
They were approx 4" wide at the top and approx 2" wide at the bottom, they pointed directly upwards and the bottoms had a 90 degree bend and were attached to the subframes with a small approx 5mm bolt.
As...
They don't appear to serve any purpose, or not now at least.
They're definitely not structural and the two 5mm holes left where the bolts fixing them to the subframe are no different to all the other holes in the subframe/chassis so not bothered about having two more.
I've no under trays and...
On both sides of the car in-between where the two arms of the wishbones connect to the chassis there are two upturned triangles of metal bolted to the chassis. I have taken them off because they were rusty and didn't seem to do anything.
They weren't supporting anything, or providing...
Mine self-centers no problem. Wonder if its because I re-used my 'old' bush, in which case those that fitted the new bushes might find it loosening up a bit with use and the self-centering returning.
I took the Clio for a spin yesterday and the gear linkage kit feels even better on the road, may be it has more resistance with the engine running or once its up to temperature?? Anyway 1st may be a very slight bit notchy, but the other four are perfect therefore have left it as it is and...
Definitely worked for me up on axle stands with Mrs W on gear-stick duties while I was under the car manually adjusting the gear-box and the linkage clamp. Literally a mm of difference in length or degrees out on the linkage bar makes such a difference, perhaps I was lucky in that the initial...
Hi Kelv, hope you're well mate. I'm at Brands on the full GP circuit on the 27th along with my track-buddy in his 944 if you fancy joining us and presumably seeing/feeling the gear-linkage kit?
I employed the services of my glamorous assistant last night who sat in the car and ran through the gears. I thought that I had previously set it up correctly as per PMS' instructions, but starting again with me under the car putting the gear-box into reverse while my wife then put the...
Yes but they could still face the same way with the flaps opening out but the units could be fitted from the outside or the inside. Obviously it would be easier if they fit from inside as I wont have to take the bumper off.
Thanks Tony, would really appreciate that when you get a minute if you don’t mind please. I took mine out a while back because the flappy noise was annoying, but if its raining I get a bit of water/dirt thrown back in through the two holes left. So I now just need to know if the units fix...
Tony, I've acquired a pair of the flaps but its not clear whether they attach from the outside, i.e. with the bumper removed, or if they attach from inside the boot. If from the outside then the rubber flaps in the vent would let air out of the car, whereas if they're fitted on the inside then...
I've just spoken to Nick at PMS and the bushes apparently have a small rubber end to them which is meant to be squashed in. I couldn't squash mine in enough last night laying under the car so as mentioned popped the old one in. As for knocking, mine has lots of room to spare in reserve, its...
Fitted it all last night, didn't take long at all, seems a really nicely made bit of kit. I spent more time buggering about with the pivot bush then fitting the rest as it wouldn't slot in far enough to allow room for the circlip. In the end I found the old bush and when put side by side the...
I've just spoken to Nick at PMS, they need card details from 10 of us before sending any kits out at the group-buy price, therefore if for example it takes 2 weeks to get the 10th none would be sent out until then. If like me you are impatient then may be its just worth paying the full price...
