Are these the newer design topmounts? Most old design ones needed a washer there to stop knocking.

Forgot to add *nut in there :o the nut that holds the lower part of topmount and spring compressed is what I mean Yeah agree with maertin182 movement in the topmount is normal on lower part.

Took my top mounts off today to drill the struts in preperation for fitting the solid top mounts and found the drivers side top hat/lower top mount loose as you described. Have you checked that the springs are still seated properly? Have you checked the threads on the nuts? Got the old ones still, to try on.

Both look perfect. No signs of leak anywhere. And car still feels the same (all be it softer) with the cup dampers, old trophy springs and top mounts. Next up, replace track rods regardless, shim rear right and will be going for solid top mounts because I was planning on come summer anyway and...

Only real way is to physically check, teke the fuel rail guard off and should be able to see. No nothing like the RS lettering on top. Simple 'R S' pretty much in this sort of font.
