The one thing I will say about ZRs is that there is one thats FWD with something like 700BHP!!! Apparently the engine can be swapped for a 220 Turbo engine pretty easily (IIRC) would be good car to have with those kinds of mods.
Still think the Clios a better car though, but then again, I am...
Yeah, for the fuel consumption tests, they do it at 56mph, so whatever the revs are at that speed would be best...in top (5th or 6th) gear before anyone tries it in second!! :rasp:
Donny
Yeah, work in Bourneville nr. Cadburys, so grabbed the opportunity to get some food...never noticed you, as I was starving...and I had to be back in for 3.
Not got them yet, may bastardise the car and put the headlight washers in...
You hear about all these Willy hybrids, I'll make mine a...
Good meet guys, was a good laugh too...apart from the roundabout incident (5 cars going round a roundabout trying to let me get to the front of the pack without me actually realising that this was the plan! D'Oh!)
Was good to meet another Donnie...still seems weird as you don't tend to see...
Welcome to the club, dependant on your NCB, you may be better advised to steer clear of a 172Cup, as they're higher insurance than 172 or 182 with (or without Cup packs).
Joys of no traction control and no ABS!!!
Enjoy your choice and make sure you take your time choosing, don't want to...
Get it on the register on www.172cup.co.uk
We're trying to get the register of who has one left.
PS. Nice motor...enjoy and get used to her before Winter kicks in.
Donny
Yeah, I got into work for 7:30...but didn't log on here until now, as don't want grief from the bosses for net abuse!
The A4123 was OUR road!!! CS rules...
Could we turn this into a reversal of a racing tales thread? ;)
See ya Sunday mate
Donny
Went past you heading North, looked as I saw a trophy, then thought...'Its Lee'...shouted Lee...doubt you heard me, but you must have been doing the glorious speed of about 15mph so you never know.
Donny
Can't be for weight reduction purposes, or they'd have removed the sticker and any badges (Renault or otherwise) on the proper cup...the 172 Cup!!! ;)

The one above is for non RS cars, this one is for the RS models! (You never mentioned what car you have! :))
Donny
Are they performing anything sexual on you for that price?
Taking the piss mate.
I was up in Manchester for my 12K and 24K and even the 24K was under £200 it was about £165 for the 12K. Phone round, then play one against the other, you could always supply your own oil and get about £30...
Nice car, get it registered on www.172cup.co.uk also...trying to get a list of all the 172 cup owners out there! Also, get used to it in this weather, don't become a statistic come winter time.
Good Choice of Motor and welcome to the club :)
Donny
Think someone needs their rear light replacing! ;)
Ali, think you shouldn't have the cup badges on though...sacrilege (sp!) :)
Nice motor though!
Donny
Ph is phase, so a Mark 2 phase 1 is with the longer bonnet, phase 2 is with the grill.
The 172 Cup is 'stripped' out of toys, about 90Kgs lighter than the 172 proper (some would call full fat or ff) has no toys, no ABS, no traction control, no side airbags, but is a good hardcore car (some...
Its probably just gonna need some copper grease! If the pads/discs are reasonably new, just get some copper grease, and give it a coating (not on the disc, but the calipers) I've had new discs and pads and mine were the same, had the coper grease done, and now seem to be running fine. The hot...
The vibration is also known as the 4K rattle! All 172s with standard exhausts have it IIRC.
If the car is under 3 years old, you can get it addressed under warranty.
Nice car by the way...and try www.172cup.co.uk most of the known 'issues' are listed in the forum.
Enjoy and Welcome
Donny
If you can cover it with a 5p piece, you should be alright, if not they'll need to replace it. You're talking circa £50/£60 dependant on insurer. The windscreen is thinner, and has a green tint, rather than purple (IIRC) of the comfort glass on 172ffs. I was asked this when I chipped my...
Back around Feb there was a group buy for the plastic splitters. There were loads of people wanting one, then suddenly dwindled down to circa 10. Then Dave, who went up to get them from near Doncaster from Wolves, was called because he bought a few extra and then held a few back, and wanted to...
From what I can gather with the cups, Renault advise the aux belt to be done at 36K, Cam belt to be done at 72K...but the Aux belt has been known to last till 50K (or so someone said!) at 18K, shouldn't be a problem. save your cash till the 36K service, then you're looking about £300 - £450...
I only mentioned the indicator bulbs, as I've changed mine over about 6 weeks ago, and in a picture in Telford, mine was the only 172/182/cup to have standard indicator bulbs :(
Next day bought the silvervisions!!! :)
Mines the one at the start of the convoy!

Motor factors charge circa £6.50 for the filter, then its your call between fully or semi synthetic. I went for Semi...10w 40 £18.50 for 5 litres!!! (Morris's lubricants)
