When you blow an engine its typically from overspeeding the internals, where rod stretch, big end bolts let go, cranks crack, pistons come off and it hits the valve, then that gets mashed up, holes in pistons throws oil out the engine, white smoke.
But there is overheating, and siezing, lots...
The H&R coilovers i fitted to loony172s car are superb.
THey are non adj on the damping side but are height adj. Fantastic quality, and on the rd pratically superb.
stiffer, but still lovingly supple, hold the rd fantastically and well, just about all you need for the rd.
And a lack of...
There is a little mod needed to the strut tower. The increased castor on the 172 means that on full lock with the wheel pointing out, the top of the suspension will rub against the strut tower.
The mod is to grind away a small bit.
We fitted these in HK and its crap.
The exhaust sysem is clamped on and is made out of straight tube, with 90 degree butt joins! like carpenters!
its wanktastic!
Yup.
But its also red thanks to ren to hide corrosion! lol
Anyway, the type of oil u use can affect oil temps, the type of coolant and how well it was bled, how dirty the rad is as a prper flush through takes about 10-15 mins.
That black tube bit with the vacuum tube. Just unscrew the solenoid off it and leave it plugged in, but take the plastic tube off.Itll run fine like that.
Mine was secured like this.

Get a proper spanner for it from halfords or a matorfactors, it makes life far easier than stripping the unions.
Twist the calipers onto the new lines, it makes it easier.
BUt make sure the lines arent twisted when your done or youll fail your MOT>
Righto.
Get down to haflord and get a GUNSONS eazi-bleed kit....its really is the best and easiest way.
Get a brake union C spanner aswell....it should be 10 or 11 mm, but i dont know aobut citroens so dont quote me on that.
wheel off, loosen the brake hose union on the caliper with the...
Go to halfords and get some DOT 4 castrol super response synthetic fluid.
The smallest bottle will be fine for jsut the fronts.
Its fantastic fluid, less hydroscopic than others, longer service life and higherf boilng points. I use it on track and never had a problem.
Dont be tempted by...
When working with ally you want proper tungsten bits, a selection of sizes and shapes to create the port bends and angles you need for correct flow. Using hard metal burrs with hatched angles will see you getting it clogged up fast and getting nowhere after about 30 secs. And drill speed isnt...
Look at the caliper slide bolts, often one corrodes (the front one) and the pad isnt applied evenly.
But a bust bearing wont help.
Not a hard job, but can get fiddly with old bolts and corrosion making things a pain.
