I think that's what the RS Clios are all about - you just want to have one.
I think they are pretty robust unless they're been modified and then it's a lottery IMO (aprt from modified exhausts as you'll need a new one if it hasn't). Look for one with less than 70k miles and makes sure the...
I've still got the 172 Cup brochure and it's 1021 kg, 80,000g (they say) less than the MkII Clio 172. The 172 Mk1 figure is 1035 kg.
If you took all the spare parts, nuts and bolts out, Dan, your car would probably weigh 950 kg!!!

I found out all about doing this from Fubar's web site, this guide works a treat!
You can replace the bearing only and I'd be tempted to do both sides at once - Clio's driven hard will wear them out. The only hassle is getting the bearings pressed out and in, if you don't have a press you need...
Fitted a set of new rear discs yesterday with new bearings, ABS rings and pads. Was a piece of wotsit to do, looks miles better than the rusty originals. Pics attached.

I had one previously. Not bad, a nice power kick at 3500 rpm I remember. If it was mine I'd strip out the interior first. The uprate the suspension and definately overall the brakes (they arn't bad but can be better) with better pads and lines etc. Finally I'd find out about getting a bit more...
Check under the passenger seat first then the drivers seat. You will see some block connectors for the wiring. Fiddle with them and it usually makes the light go off (hopefully it won't make the airbag go off!). It takes a few seconds before the light goes. Then tape them up with some duck tape...

Don't buy a non-genuine clutch cable. Get one from Renault and only from Renault, thereby making sure it's the right part. It takes an hour and a half for someone like me to fit one (and I have zero patience). In other words, it isn't difficult to do it yourself and there was a sticky posted to...
Sounds like it's gone into limp mode for some reason. I think this happens to protect the car when the ECU detects a fault. Might be in need of a trip to Renault to have it diagnosed I reckon.

I don't find that my car jerks when I hit the limiter to be honest with you, I wouldn't decribe it that way. 5,000 RPM is a bit low to hit it anyway (unless engine is cold). I'd be tempted to say it could be suspension or steering related. Maybe even a buckled wheel? A cracked spring? Either...
Oil change, air filter change and fill up with decent fuel like Optimax if you're not already using it. Might help. Or else you could have got too used to it. Buy a motorbike instead perhaps!

I keep getting a stupid flashing yellow triangle and my spyware can't seem to kill the damn thing. Keeps saying System Alert:spyware detected. My AOL spyware can't finish it off, might be something called Nuvens I think.
See picture 4 it's the rubber bit. Check it all over for any splits. It might be worn out though, but you need to know what to check to test this (I don't) problem is usually given away by a noise from that area of the car.

Renault gave me a discount last time when I bought three oil filters and sump washers - the filters cost me about £3.50 a piece and the washers about 75p (cheaper than Halfords).

Not much in it I reckon, really. Maybe the small difference was due to the Cup being older and hence the engine being a little looser - who knows? No timings are given in EVO for the 172 phase 1, just for the phase 2 (a slightly heavier car).
A good article I reckon. But it's a better read...
