I have it but wish I didn't. Give me a stripped out, nothing-fancy car everytime. What's wrong with winding down the window? I mean ''winding down'', none of this fancy electric window nonsense either!
Cheers, Victor Meldrew.
There were very many versions of the Mini Cooper in the late 60s / early 70s including Cooper S. Different engine sizes from 970 upwards to 1275 I think. Best 0-60 time though was about 11 secs from a 1275cc Cooper S. Many though had modified cylinder heads and bigger bored engines, so non-std...
Looking at the RS Tuning thread along with this, I still wonder which options the best: the GrpN ECU or their remap?
Both the same price or thereabouts, both give extra power. With the GrpN though I guess it's a swop so you might keep the original if ever you need it for whatever reason.
I...
The bloke next who's garage is next to mine was welding something when I was filling up the gearbox. He was worried that he thought he could smell gas. Right stink it was.
I've just changed my gearbox oil and blimey it stinks - smells like gas. I was also lying down lots and just hope it hasn't gone in my hair and in my head. Should cure the dandruff! Anyone know why it smells like that? (It was gear 300, synthetic stuff by Motul, going for a blast later to see...
Thanks for posting the pics! I'd like to see one in white, it might look better then. But at nearly £20,000 forget Renault, there are much better cars available for that money.

Hi, I had the same dials (three in a row) on my RSi - they were fitted to both 16v and RSi towards the end of the factory run. Mine were never very reliable, TBH. I think the main sensors are located on the front of the engine, but I don't have photos. Try taking the wiring off as a test, off...
Lovely car, mines silver and the same Mk1 model. Best performance gain comes by getting more air into the engine. So filter and inlet manifold needs some improvement - better exhaust also helps. Pay £5 to join the club and you'll learn loads more and probably save time and money on repairs...
Best fitted as pairs really. Whole package available including discs, bearings and ABS ring from usual people, including Yozzasport. You can knock out the old bearing after removing all the other internal bits and press in new one, but care is needed and a good hydraulic press too.
Hope that...
Everything takes time to grow on me. So I'll wait and see how I feel about this new RS car after a few months. But I'm not convinced by the look of it just now.

Not particularly rare I'd say. I also had one and I still see a few about. My first proper car, it was good fun. Wonder where it is now - N859 AAN I think.

In case you haven't done so already, take off the anti-rattle springs. I have 2500s my 172 and they're fine without the springs. I wonder though if it is the new discs. Are they non-standard?

I'd like to know if this is an engineering fact or really just something in our minds. It might be down to driving it just right, but only getting this sorted some days. On some days my car feels slow, other days it is uncomfortably quick. Had a joust with a WRX, it didn't get away on a dual...
That's the problem with 182s: the 16'' wheels. My 172 has 15s. My PE2s (195/50/15) usually cost around £50, fitted, balanced etc and with a free plastic seat cover too. Last pair of Exalto's actually cost me £45 each!
Ozzy, I agree there are many overlapping threads and we need more stickies.
For what its worth, I use Optimax os Sainsburys 97 stuff. Others didn't suit my engine (172).

Not me, sorry. Not intending to hijack or anything, but I've seen that car parked at Aztec West and I don't think they are CS members. Not a bad example of that edition though, apart from the wheels I reckon.

I'll keep my eyes peeled. Should be able to spot you from your no. plate. I keep seeing a girl on the Topsham Road in a silver 172, seen her?

Hi mate, sorry I didn't respond. I was just dreading pulling out into the traffic from that garage. Noticed your car though, it looks well good from the front!
Monkey in the back is always looking at other cars, my son.

Yes. Next you'll need a tool to get the filter off. Best thing for them are a filter socket thing. Do a search on this forum for one, they were mentioned a while ago. Cost under a tenner.
