excellent piece of advice. How about another one: any ideas on how to verify if the bonnet is shutting tight against my box, i.e tight enough to form a seal? I can obviously design the box to form a tight seal directly off the bonnet, but then how do I know how much clearance I have between the...
i havent been quoted anything, Im just going from memory. reason Im asking is to understand what happens if you reach a theoretical 210bhp (4x52bhp) on the standard injectors? do you have to change them, do you up pressure? etc. etc.
not me, Im not aware of a company thats developed a proper decat for a mk2/cup. Theer was a recent thread (month old prob) from somebody whos just done that on a 172, from memory the title read something like "no deact, bol**cks". Have a search for that
Ben, it must be the thinner cup windscreen??
will let you know all what windscreen I get later today (if indeed autoglass-man shows up with all the required parts...)
Aaron Lol, no mates are allowed in the car when Im on track, and I go on a 2-day diet before Im on track too ;)
the cup racers are 900Kg. A standard cup is1020 or so. Rear seat/bench + child restraint system bar will remove 17Kg for starters, so I am running at approx 1000Kg. Fogs off soon, but thats not for weight, but air ducting to brakes.
your decision, if you feel an extra 5bhp justifies buying the part, new gaskets and fitting it. if overall cost is about £250, thats probably not too bad, as the cost per 10bhp is usually about a grand after youve done the usual IK/zorst/chip
seem to remember the 172/cup injectors are rated 52bhp each. what does that mean in practice? they cant deliver enough fuel for an airmixture required for 55 bhp per injector? does that mean they just run out of fuel to inject and you start running lean???
are there readily available upgraded...
Dont get depressed, get even
Buy a cup for £2k less than list by negotiating hard or whatever other means, and if wisely spent that £2k will see you to a tad below 200bhp.
you just have to recognise youre not starting at 172, but around 165-6 (unless you go to a muppet RR that will tell you...
yes that should be interesting. Massive gains are available by removing the entire exhaust system and replacing with large bore, no cat, no silencer, and a simplistic backbox (problem is you cause ear bleeding within a 2 mile radius)
Id be interested to know what that sports cat does, although...
yes 166bhp is about right - I can testify, thats where mine began life oh so not long ago - so Renault need to up the power to meet the 172 claim .. but then again I suspect Peugeots claimed 180 bhp is also a bit dodgy.
I am sure the cars develop 172bhp when tested at 3degrees ambient...
good points. The airbox design I have in mind would have too many joints etc and if carbon sheets only have tensile strength in 2 dimensions, thats not gonna help. So Ill slightly modify my question. Where can I have an aluminium or thermoplastic airbox design made to my measurements?
a custom air box that needs the following properties:
1- heat shielding
2- rigid enough at temperature/vibration to maintain a good seal to another surface
3- finally, but not too fussed about 100 grams, lightweight
dunno - im lightening the car, so a lighter windscreen is good, but if its also more fragile, no point in paying £50 excess every time it gets chipped and proceeds to crack ..
Anyway its all in the hands of the autoglass muppet whos going to fit a new windscreen today. As long as he does a...
well I held the new flowed inlet tract section mentioned above in my own hands Tuesday morning if thats any help .. so it must be going somewhere, right?
while on the subject of windscreens, I had two tiny stone chips on the windscreen at the weekend when going to Goodwood. They both had a "split" about 5mm either side of the chip. the next morning, one of them had grown to an 10 inch crack running diagonally across the windscreen!!
I have...
I checked and it is indeed linked to the immobiliser. The problem occurs mostly when temperatures are above 10 degree or so, (i.e. always in Mexico unless you live on the slopes of popocatepetl..).
Anyway, the good news is that its known to Renault and fixed under warranty.
where about in...
everybody seems to get this problem. I remember reading on a french site rs-team.org about the cause but i forgot what it was. I will look into it though and i will let you know what i find out
