    65K on a golf..........

£64k on insurance. Must be one hell of a bad postcode.

    harness mounting

I'm sure Mark Fish used to prepare these for racing, I'd suggest sending him an e-mail with the picture and asking. No point in guessing with something like this. http://www.markfish.co.uk/

    6 speed box into 182??

I thought that when Fred was with Yozzasport they were offering a 6 speed conversion of some discription. Was it just a figment of my imagination?

    Burpspeed - From The beginning

Looking good. Did you get round to checking your spring rates on the AST's?

What does your Clio owe you?

Been trying to avoid doing this, but curiosity got the better of me. £5700 on parts.

    I wouldn't, but that's just my opinion.

    More streamline bits

Looks great, but I'm not sure why you've re-fitted the wing mirror adjuster trim? It would not only look much neater without them, but it'd be lighter too. Every gram counts.

    Turboing a Clio 182!?!?

The gearboxes are rated up to a specific torque rating though aren't they? And although I don't know the exact figure, I was under the impression that it wasn't too far away from the standard Clio's output?

    ***Tyre Poll***

Can't comment on track yet, but I'll trust jon_r's opinion on that for now. I've found them great on the road, wet or dry. Not used in a massive amount of standing water, but I'm guessing they'll be a little compromised in those conditions if speed limits are exceeded. Definately got more grip...

    Weighed the cup

    Weighed the cup

I've got no idea about rotational mass and the equvilant weight losses. All I do know is that rotational mass is a good place to lose some weight. Dymag are not amateurs though.

    Weighed the cup

From the Dymag website: Carbon Magnesium Car Wheel - Summary The performance gain achieved by reducing the wheel mass (Un-sprung Mass) can be quantified using a factor of six. This means that to achieve the same performance gain by reducing the body mass, it is necessary to remove six times...

I'm really interested to see how this 197 ends up - should be good! Nice work!

    ***Tyre Poll***

Will sort a decent post out over the weekend on the original thread. Short version here though - I'd buy them over PE2's if they were the same price.

    ***Tyre Poll***

I've previously voted for PE2's, but Hankook RS2's now firmly ticked my 'will buy again' box. Couldn't be happier with them.

what is so special about the trophy setup?

The technology in the Sachs remote reserviour dampers is far superior to that of the Gaz coilovers. They're not even the same type of unit! To buy suspension comparable to the Sachs unit from any manufacturer you'll be looking at spending well over £2k.

    182 Cup or non Cup

It's got the cup badges on the door pillars and the headlight washer blanking plates. It is missing the rear spoiler, but if it is a cat D as asked in another thread it could have been a rear shunt. As for the front splitter - lots go missing as stated above. Just for the oddness of it though...

how wud u compare Maxogen vs BMC

As far as I know the ITG Maxogen has never been conclusively proven as 'the best induction kit'. My guess at more BMC's being available on the second hand market would be that more were sold in the first place because they're affordable.

    Clio bhp???

If it was me and I was going to spend that sort of money and wanted a Clio with 500bhp I'd be looking at using a Scooby turbo flat four running through a tunnel and driving the rear wheels. It'd be so much cheaper to do and so much more effective as a usable car.

    Clio bhp???

Getting the power out of the engine wouldn't be the biggest problem. As said before, what gearbox is going to take that much power without throwing a hissy fit?

    Show me your Harnesses!

I had no interest in being able to move the seat once it was in place and I wanted to sit low down. My subframes are two pieces of alloy box section. Not everyone's cup of tea! Well done for working out where the holes came from!

    Show me your Harnesses!

The door side mounts were done by Mark Fish, unfotunately I didn't ask him why. If it wasn't the pretensioners mounted either side of the hand brake it must have been the seat belt clips themselves? It's been way too long for me to remember now! But, yes - all of the eyelets threaded straight...
