If it is, it wasn't thought about for the 182's! It's where I'd expect it to be on a 172 (where the exhaust runs), but on a 182 with the exhaust in the middle - pointless!
Thanks, I thought that might be the case with (2), it just looks so untidy! The material is squidgy (for want of a better word) though - surely it can't be structural? Or could be at least removed and then re-applied to a better standard?
I've taken the rear seats out to reveal the metal floor, but can someone tell me what the two materials marked on the picture are, whether I can remove them without leaving any problem areas beneath, and how?
Thanks,
Not really, I can't be bothered to weigh the stuff I took out, but I'd be very surprised if it added up to more than 20kg. After I've taken more of the inner pannels out and swapped the fat Recaros for something more focused it might be noticable - but I'm not holding my breath!
Not really sure what section to put this in, so apologies if it's in the wrong place!
As it was easy to do, I thought I'd take the rear seats out of the car as a few people had said that you can hear the exhaust a fair bit better and there may be some weight loss benefits.
You can definately...
I was quoted £665.96 from Motorline and £620.48 from another stealer. A specialist will do the work much cheaper. I'm off to Mark Fish for mine - and he's not known as being cheap!
See my first post in this thread. The small dent was aquired drifting into a signpost!
Truth be told though, it was a fantastic car to slide. Easily broke traction in first, second and third. Hardly any weight at the back and a V8 up front = oversteer on tap. My Rover V8 engined (RIP) example...
Compomotive ML's 7x15. I'd suggest buying a mint 1.6 laser as your base if you go the mk3 route - hunt around and find one that's been stored. The best of the best should be around £1,700. I would suggest places to look for rust - but it can be simplified to EVERYWHERE!! Rotboxes are all over...
Chevy V8 and Rover V8 will slot straight in - Tickover in Bexleyheath are the people to talk to about it. Get a nice alloy block Chevy lump if you want go without the weight penalty and massive tuning potential from cheap US parts. Rover V8 weighs about the same as a 2 litre pinto engine and are...
For any 182 cup or Trophy owners - buy the Renault stalk with the wiper controls from the 182ff to give more control over the annoying intermittent wipers. All the electrics are there, just need to fit it.
The bore has to be spot on as it's a load bearing surface. If the bore size of the wheel is too large all of the weight will be supported by nothing but the wheel bolts. The wheel bolts will fail and you will loose the wheel. Spigot rings are adapters that effectively give a new bore diameter...
It's not just 10kg lost. It's was a drain on the engine, and it's weight front right up front on the car - on a car as front end biased as the Clio, it'll be better loosing weight from there than the back. Let's also not forget that the damn thing didn't work properly anyway and it is a track...
