    5mm spacers - standard bolts

Not sure what 172 your running but for a ph1, 5mm per side, 10mm total track width is the best imo - brings it to standard Cup offsets too

    Standard 172 wheel colour?

Might be wrong but im sure all the 172's ph1 and ph2's are titanium 647 Silver is a dodgy colour to match when not doing the complete set.

Im in Scotland and paid £430 ball park area for a cambelt / aux change although it was a couple of years back however.

£644 for cam/aux belt change from Evans Halshaw Edinburgh

MOT is about 47 i think area. Personally wouldnt tie the MOT in with garage work as i doubt youd get a discount as a MOT is more a Government law thing than garage profit making . Couldnt tell you the price for the belts and tensioner but im guessing about the 150 quid mark?

£644 for cam/aux belt change from Evans Halshaw Edinburgh

Id worry about that one. You want someone doing it who has the correct locking tools and knows what their doing. Theres millions of threads about folk getting it done cheap and their car has found to be losing power because its not timed up exact. You have to take the aux belt off to do the...

    172 / 182 link pipe - DIY silencer

Been running a cut down Janspeed for a number of years but theres issues with it so after a new one. Can you make your own silencer onto a normal section of straight pipe or will it be ineffective? The only difference i can see is silencer internal pipes have millions of holes in them but...

£644 for cam/aux belt change from Evans Halshaw Edinburgh

Hope you told them where to shove it. Thats a joke especially on a Cup which is easier / quicker to do anyway!

    172/182 supercharger

Nice guy from the 'old skool' - bit set in his ways though :D lol Regards to the pricing i reckon most would opt for the s/charger bracket set up that does away with the aircon ''if'', it saves a good few quid probably. Could be competition too in that sector when the other charger comes...

Cracking result for the mods. Take it 'IT' means the inlet temp?

    172 / 182 link pipe - DIY silencer

Does anyone make a 'silenced' decat link pipe for use on 172's with 182 manifold conversions? Also, if you take one length of pipe, build your own silencer around it, will it silence the same as a off the shelf unit or does it need the perforation's in the inlet pipe to be effective at...

    5mm spacers - standard bolts

Motorsport world stock the spacers. Go for Eibachs, roughly 50 quid ish. Would like to know where to buy longer bolts from too. Im currently running stock bolts with spacers and aint too keen on the potential safety side

    PH1 172 winter hack/track toy

...to be stripped and turned into a track car, its final days of normality before it dies a death !! :dapprove: Bet you wish youd a kept it now lol See, told you that cam belt had plenty of life left in it. Lasted a good year after you had it :rasp:

what is the actual 172 wheels offset...?

^^et46, sure thats 182? Most ideal offset to use from experience is et38, ie Cup offsets. Well worth upgrading to 10mm spacers on the fronts (5mm per side) if your running a 172 on stock rims imo

    Engine Tuning

Make the car lighter like already stated. Back seats in the bin and lighter seats up front and lighter wheels too. LOL @ the quoted performance figures for the mods. - without cams or TB's you wont hit mid 170's ''in the real world''
  21. A

    172/182 supercharger

Also, you cant compare a supercharger conversion to TB's or a turbo conversion. Supercharger has far more useable power ! Folk need to get away from the figures thing all the time. Their really is more to it than that

    4 pots on 1*2's

Stock brakes are one area that Renault got right so give them some credit by leaving them alone lol I'd uprate the pads and stretch to Brembo discs at the most with a total stock set up to the rear

    Coil pack fitting

Just to add to this, you'll need to use deep sockets as the normal ones wont slot in. Very tight fit

    What the hell is this?!

Its probably been re-routed to there as the mechanic didnt want to bend his back or for quickness (BEING SERIOUS) Its nothing to worry about but im guessing if it really bugged you, you could unplug it and relocate it on to the appropriate clips yourself?

    Re Mapping

Yeah agree. Never been a fan of generic mapping. Cars differ so much in stock form let alone modded

    Re Mapping

Might be wrong but im sure even tuning companys are now fitting TB's with generic maps without the use of rollers? :quiet:

    lowerd on eibach pros

''Eibach'' and ''lowering'' shouldnt be read in the same sentance. Good springs for the job of making the car handle though

    Looing at 172s...1*1 vs 1*2?

This thread is as clear as tuning into radio Luxenberg. :o Ph1 172 is what you want. Raw, quicker and easier to tune than the ph2. Looks is down to personal choice.
