Ah the good old Maxogen love and hate topic again.
Have a hunt on the search. You'll then be able to make your own mind up :)
Im also very happy with my Maxogen
Key thing to check when buying these is the obvious, are they straight. They are a very soft alloy wheel and easy to bend.
Brand new their £175 EACH from Renault but if you ask nicely you can usually get the VAT off which brings them down to £140 ish
For a black finish you can do a very...
Running the best its ever ran in its life! Got the map tweeked few weeks back and pulls like a rocket. Was running lean in the map for well over 10k :o
If i was after another one i seriously wouldnt be put off by a high mileage example as long as it has a full service history
You could spend lots of money trying to find what the problem is. Certainly wouldnt go by posts on here as without seeing the car no one could be 100% certain
Sure my local dealers didnt charge for a diagnostic check in relation to trying to find a fault... few years back tho.
When you see a ph1 172 in your rear view mirror or at Tesco's lol you know its a Clio Sport 172
See a ph2 or 182 and it looks like any run of the mill Clio. Maybe thats a good thing if you like subtle :o
Sure there was only 1200 or so ph1 172's imported into the UK via Renault...
Depends if you can get VAT knocked off at your local dealers. Some will do it so does make it cheaper by the time youve taken P&P into consideration :)
You have to buy the whole spring kit if you go to Renault and sure its knocking on for 30 notes
Someone posted a Renault non genuine parts site up a while back who sold the gaskets etc on their own but not sure of the name.
Ideally it wants to be sealed but this is quite common yeah
Do the mounts look the same? Just wondering how they could be gauged as being stiffer than the 172 / 182's one and how anyone would find out if they are?.
Basically is this all 100% factual or a unproven myth? :)
Someone posted up last week that their using Kangoo mounts in a project as their ''allegedly'' stiffer due to the vehicle being a diesel, more torque, heavier engine etc
Taken off from there basically lol
Theres a euro company who sells a similer plenum set up to the 197 all be it a bit naff looking.
Not sure what the company is or if the gains are any good etc but im sure its DP something the brand?
Up and running the R32 would tank most Clio's due to the extra CC's and torque but its a big heavy car and isnt at its best doing standing starts up a quarter mile with all the weight to shift and the tranny losses too :)
Again on a track i cant see it being all too clever down to the weight...
Totally agree with you. Mods are about the bigger picture, complementing one another rather than sticking one component part onto a stock engine and expecting 10 brake lol
Good point on the inlet and plenum set up too. Theres loads of twists in the whole intake track which surely must harbour...
Not sure what the 730 code is but i mean on the Ph1 / Ph2 172's and 182's with single TB set up and bolt on mods like, inlets, cams inductions and all mapped :)
It used to be claimed (even by some experts) on here that to get to 200 bhp you need cams, inlet and a couple of other bolt on...
No this is fact, not fiction. See Crail website for more info. 3 sprints and he couldnt get near me. His car was standard, mine was running 181 bhp at the time.
R32's weigh 1.5 tonne add to that the transmission loss and the difference in performance is a lot closer than you think.
Mid to...
Bit of a contradiction in your post there lol Gains are low and unproven. If there unproven how do you know the gains are low? ;)
Its proven on modded engines, not sure about on its own but its not just about performance where the cost lays.
The kit is on another level purely in design and...
If its for road use youd be far better with a milder cam to get the power in lower down the rev range rather than peaking at the top.
Few of us on here have had your cars RR'd on Dyno Dynamics set up with various cam ratings and plenty of other mods to compliment and anywhere near 200bhp on a...
Stupid question but whats it like performance wise?
Seen a few vids of various ones and although some appear to look very fast others look a bit all noise and not ''that much'' go.
First up learn to drive the thing how its designed and second, if it rattles fix them !! They can be made to stop dohhhhhh ;)
At least you havent got a papa car now
From folk i know, the Sport versions do seem to give less problems than the run of the mill versions.
This could be down to the different factory thing?
Lot of my mates used to s**g the French thing but soon shut up once they get their ar5e tanned good and proper. Totally owned my mate in...
