Cool cheers Rich, maybe I can borrow some from my dad's work, not the kind of thing I really want to be forking out for right now (axle stands this is).
Don't mind taking my time though!
Did you clean with some Engine & Machine and then some wire wool one your old car I remember you did as...
Brazo - only joking mate, I love BMWs, just resent the company! Renault, as my new employer, have to say I LOVE them and every aspect of the organisation!
Rich - I don't think I will be so strong. Got a summer of love coming up though, starting with cleaning the insides of my wheels...
Rich, do you think you might cry when your 182 goes? I may shed a small tear when the day comes to get rid of the 172 (especially for what it is being replaced with...) Roll on being 25 and being able to get something better!!!
Looks good. What parts of the engine did you take off to do it or just tape it up?
Been wanting to do my callipers for ages, a project for the summer I think!
Haha. I do love a bit of underside back-box action as next as the next OCD detailer has but prefer glory shots of the paint rather than exhausts to be honest. We all know you have a peachy underside Paul lol! ;)
Top car Matt! Know what you mean about the stone chips on the Clio's paint though, got loads of micro-chips on the front end of mine which are tres annoying.
Already seen that nano technology exists for these purposes, but the stuff I saw had a rubbish resolution and contrast on the screen and I imagine it would be too expensive to put into mass production at the moment.
Give it ten years I think and could definitely be a winner, the self cleaning...
For the Clio it probably won't make a world of difference I imagine, just don't get the Carplan stuff or something which seems like shaving foam, had to ban my dad from using this stuff!
Gliptone is what I use, great stuff and smells like "proper" leather.
Having said that the % of cow used in the "leather" in the Clios probably doesn't really matter all that much! In my dad's car with proper leather seats the effects are a lot better.
Hmmm Twingo 1.2 Dynamique versus Porsche 911 Turbo...it is a tough choice but think we can all agree the former is the way to go....
Did I mention it is coming in black?!? :o
Ah nice one, anyone on here?
Just had a call from Porsche UK about a possible job but had to turn it down, but tempting just so I could "borrow" cars when needed!
Twingos ARE cool and you all knows it! ;)
Ah still not found a home for the 182 yet then? Would have thought that would be snapped up straight away to be honest.
Well, I will have a nice new TWINGO to detail soon too! ;)
On the plus side though Michael once you do it the first time it will never be as bad to do again, I would look to get Menzerna polishes in the future though, they are all I have used by machine (polish wise) and absolutely no reason to change as seem to tackle anything amazingly well.
The...
I am a bit of a way from Berkshire anyway mate, but I am pretty sure if you choose Brazo you will be more than happy judging by some of the work I have seen him do on posts.
The ones we used to use at the dealership definitely did, they were originally designed to be used on lorries as a quick and easy solution of cleaning pretty much anything off them, although I guess consumer versions may be a little different!
I would think even a mild shampoo if used enough...
^ What he said...I find a good bit of SRP via PC every 3-4 months then topped with sealant and/or wax is more than enough. If you go for a full polish every time you notice a mark you will eventually eat through your clearcoat, I have only done mine "properly" twice.
You can do it in one day if its not too bad but that is literally starting before the birds wake up and soldiering through all day.
I did a Mitsubishi Evo last year on a summer's day and was the toughest job I have had to get done mainly due to conditions - as was sat under a tree which was...
ha they are all on my laptop...will try and get some shots later although mainly after shots I have to say!
Trust me though - you get what you pay for!
Ha yeah or that! My mum's golf is normally my test car, although it is newer and more expensive than my car it is in a s**t condition in comparisson!
Will be giving it a good seeing to over the summer though...
£40 is dirt cheap, a local Polish place wiping over some crap polish which won't really do anything will cost you about that - for a "proper" paint correction £100 would be a fairly reasonable price, some of the guys who do it for a living charge a hell of a lot more than that though. Still good...
You can really go to town if you want, mine if properly polished (albeit now with the PC) sealed and waxed like the rest of the paint, all plastic covers were removed, cleaned and treated, all screw heads and exposed metal sprayed with WD40 etc...does look a hell of a lot better and should help...
