Bought my 182 manifold a few months back and finally got it all bolted up to the mk1 172 today. Got a couple o mates on the job, one a mechanic and the other a welder. Cost me the grand total of 100 notes all done. We also cut down and modded my Janspeed decat to fit to the system...

Yes very very simple job. Just make sure you dont over tighten the bolts when you put it back on because thay tend to have a habit of snapping the heads off.

Only time ive spotted a mk1 172 in BK was at the begining of the year, 3 blonde birds in it and running 17's. Not sure if Annie off here sometimes goes down in her mk1 too

I thought it was simply, single cat pipe for early mk1 172's and double for the later ones (2001 models) Anyone got a guide on how to drop the subframe ???

Here's the difference in lengh between a 172 / 182 cat and manifold. Cant see how it would be possible to cut down a 182 cat to make it fit for MOT time ....anyone help on this and know how much would need to be cut off ?? 182 system nearest the red door:

Pretty sure that the K-tec mani is just a standard 182 manifold.

Sure i did a search on here a while back and a couple of folk said they had managed to fit a 182 mani without lifting the engine or dropping the subframe.?

Every time your due a MOT you'll have to take it off remember unless you have a friendy MOT tester !! lol Get yourself a 182 mani. Makes swapping over from cat to decat a one man 2 second job :)

Do you know if the bore size between a 182 / 172, zorst / mani and after market decat is the same ? Is it all just a straight link up with a bit of cutting and shutting here and there ? :)

Got a mk1 172 and at the moment have a Janspeed decat and full Magnex exhaust system. Bought a 182 manifold and cat the other week. What i'd like to know is would a 182 decat link straight up between my Magnex and the 182 manifold ?? Would ideally like to cut and shut the Janspeed but...

Funny how Dastek just went ahead and had a go at fitting their piggy back chip to my 172 over a year back, and failed i might add, but not before they wanted to skin me for 150 odd notes for the fixing of a problem to my car which i found out didnt even exist !! Have they finally realised...
