    EGP on alloys

I use Collinite over whatever sealant I have on the wheels, like Rich says add another layer of that rather than more sealant. Then you can wash just using shampoo and then dry and wipe over with a QD and MF towel in the future.

    foam

I've got the Super Spray hose attachment and whilst it doesn't obviously have the power of a pressure washer it produces a lot of foam and is very good at getting rid of most surface contaminants before washing with a mitt. Its pretty much the same concept as the Gilmour but 1/5 the price. You...

Just psyching myself up for a two day detail on mine, just the exterior, I hope the weather holds out :S Check you two out with your BoS...and me with my poxy Onyx (and other x amounts of waxes that I have half used).

It's good for you! Well, just ordered the Onyx and some other bits and ended up spending another ton in total there :o But I got a new wash mitt too so my old man can have my current one. Looking forward to the session now, given myself 2 or 3 days to do everything, and already got the...

The WMF is a sealant though apparently, although probably not the most durable out there, I think it adds to the looks a lot so might be a worthwhile additional step. Once a month... and the rest! ;)

Would you not bother with the WMF then? When I first used it I was a bit sceptical but it does seem to retain a really decent shine. Anyway, that was my planned route, as the Onyx won't be here until Monday and I am going back to Leeds on Saturday I am going to have my work cut out - pretty...

Yeah I guess that makes sense... I was thinking the Collinites over the Onyx would lock it in? If I am feeling frisky I might try layering Onyx > Collinites > Onyx. But that would make my intended process on the details Mezerna FF, AG SRP, AG EGP or Jeffs AJT, CG Wet Mirror Finish then those...

Use it over the top of the Collinites you say? Was going to try it the other way round but will listen to your worldy widom ;) (pending on the Onyx coming back into stock!) Not the glowing report I had been expecting for the Mystery then...will have to go for an even better one next time then...

Cool, any links? How did you find it - worth the price? Just about to buy the Onyx but - out of stock at CAS :( Just emailed Tim to see when he is getting some back in. Was going to give it some Collinites after polishing before going back to uni more for protection than for looks. If Tim gets...

I was just going for the delicate wall flower approach lol.... but yes on reflection the PC would be of more benefit!! I am going to finally get round to order the 4" spot pad set I have been meaning to get, just hope I don't order the Onyx, more MF towels and other things I don't need also...

I don't want to hear that!!! ;) Yeah guess I could just use the PC there I suppose...I just have a feeling this little mole hill is going to become a mountain very soon lol.

    Touch up...

Yeah thats what I have been told. I am just going to be extra careful only to touch the slightly raised surface of the area I painted and not the surrounding area. I have been told it goes very dull after being sanded, then just going to go round with some Menzerna IP on a German hand polishing...

Thanking you both kindly! :star: Its going to be a bit strange taking some sandpaper to the car though! Will have a little test effort somewhere out of sight first of all though I think. And if I damage the car then I am coming round for your fingers, and then your toes! ;)

Bump :o Also, when you say "soapy water" what sort of soap do you mean, a detergent or car shampoo? Cheers.

    PC'ing required in oxfordshire area!!

Cheers for the advice Brazo. Was kind of thinking WOM was the key, and as my dad gets most my custom through his mates and me not even asking then I must be doing something right! Plus most the cars I have worked on recently, the customers have tipped me too and made very positive comments. I...

    PC'ing required in oxfordshire area!!

Rich and Brazo, out of curiosity how do you advertise your business (car detailing, not your other ones...;)) as I only do it through word of mouth but as a result I know the person I am working for and feel guilty asking for the prices my work deserves. As I only do it as and when I have time...

    Applying EGP

I find what you apply it with makes a big difference - I use a microfibre applicator as it gives a nice even covering and won't wipe any off you have just applied. I leave it on for about an hour or so, in the meantime you can do other parts of the car. Or alternatively check out some hardcore...

Erm its like half a sheet, and I guess the part with the grit size on it has been used already!! It is mighty mighty fine though, almost like paper. Quite a dark greyish colour (not sure if 3m colour code their grades?) Also, when you say "soapy water" what sort of soap do you mean, a...

I just found some 3M "Wetordry" in my garage, would this be ok to use? Seems very fine in terms of coarsness, almost smooth?
  20. B

    Touch up...

Yeah I know, I don't really want them f**king it up and reckon I can do it myself quite nicely, just wasn't sure about the sanding as never done it before. For a small touch up is putting a clearcoat layer on necessary? I have touched up a couple of small stone chips on the front without...

What... I said I would rather not go to a bodyshop if need be. Not just this one but any. It's such a small scratch just in a visible area and would be difficult to blend in well.
  22. B

    Touch up...

I'll take a little trip down later then...thing is as its in such a visible place would rather fix it myself if possible as I don't trust the garages bodyshop either! Thanks mate :star:

Got my car back from the service yesterday, and noticed a scratch back to the paint just above the window on the driver's door, in a really noticable place. I touched it up well but still looks gash. Well I'm not happy with it any way...would polishing it down with Menzerna IP improve it (as its...

I quite like the look of the E81...but will there be any decent games on it? That new Sony above looks sweet as :approve:

    Orane Phone Contract

Cool nice one...no harm done in asking I guess, especially as they have hacked me off by not replying to my emails...although not a real problem waiting the 4 extra months if I have to pay for it I suppose.:boring:

    Orane Phone Contract

Hmm thats gay. Is that 100% strictly the case though, maybe if I beg and plead they might upgrade, especially as I am pissed off their "customer services" responded to my email with something I didn't ask them and then ignored my two further emails... really annoyed me actually!

    Orane Phone Contract

I have a contract with Orange that has about 5 months left to run, but I want to upgrade to their Dolphin tariff. Does anyone know if I can do this whilst still on an existing tariff, and if so can I upgrade my handset as I don't really like the one I have? Cheers for any mystical wisdom ;)

One of the daftest quotes i've ever read on here

I put my excess as high as possible as it came directly off my premium, which to me is stupid. Pay £100 now, or have the possibility of paying £100 if you crash...think I will go with the latter, thanks for asking...
