Right, Onyx turned up yesterday (some Parcel Force screw up also meant the Snow Foam in the package had leaked everywhere) and after FAR too many hours thoroughly detailing the car inside and out - it looks absolutely mint.
To give you some idea how long it's taken, I did the interior last...
For that money you can pretty much guarantee its not all that and a bag of chips.
As for selling x thousand pots ... The Sun is England's leading selling paper. I rest my case! ;)
Yeah can't imagine the new Focus will be out anytime before 2010 - although is it an entirely new model like the name suggests or a LCI?
The second generation hasn't had an LCI update has it?
I quite like Fords to be honest, the old Focus 1.6 Zetec I learnt to drive in was a great little car.
Yeah its a good idea. I only do it to earn some money and don't advertise myself at all except through word of mouth (normally my dads lol!) and get a decent stream - but mentioned in another thread the other day as I know by degree most the people's cars I am working on never charge as much as...
You don't have to convince me! ;)
Not as satisfying as doing it yourself though, just if you have time to spare and money and experience...I have been working on mine on and off the past couple of days - just hoping my Onyx arrives tomorrow and isn't lost in the post as feared :(
The Detailer...
Welcome to the fabulous world of iPods mate!
When they work they are great but they break ALL the time, usually when you have a long walk somewhere and the iPod was going to be the only good bit about it!
I leave mine hooked up to the HU in my car, as soon as I remove it it freezes up...
£400 against the cost of the car is still cheap, will add more than that to the value (assuming you keep it in good nick!)
Plus a CSL is sexy enough, a shiny CSL is just naughty...
If your nail catches then the scratch has probably gone back to the bare metal surface or primer at least, e.g. there is no paint there, so polishing it won't really achieve much except for improving the area around the scratch.
I got a little scratch last week that I was able to perform a very...
I will call him tomorrow morning if not - always the easiet option. That is unless it arrives...CYC and ParcelForce are normally very reliable hence my concerns...:S
Quite annoying as I ended up doing the whole car using the 6" pads and would have been a lot easier to use the new 4" set I...
After cleaning on Sunday and polishing today, ready to seal and wax tomorrow... good news. Although I am slightly concerned my package may be lost in the post :( it was sent first class delivery on Friday and still not here today, it should be right?
Emailed Tim letting him know as I only have...
Last a fair amount of time... I just clean in some warm water and fairy liquid, leave to soak for a good half an hour or more then residu comes off with a brush off and more soap solution then leave to dry naturally.
Cheers, was very pleased with the results and a new trick for the future. Considering the position of the mark it is really impressive actually, where the paint was applied is really well blended with the existing paint :approve:
And yes I am pleased you warned me about the scratch marks...
Right, just cleaned the car to get it prepped before polishing and decided to bite the bullet andtry and get this sanding done...
So as advised I soaked the paper overnight in a shampoo solution, and then rubbed gently over the surface, keeping it lubed with QD. The paint/ clear coat came back...
I have that towel ^ works really well, you can lay it on a surface and will absorb most the water, then just pat dry. Works well with a QD too - just make sure you rinse it out fairly regularly - and be careful not to let it drag on the floor when working at the bottom of the car as its MASSIVE.
Yeah its definitely worth correcting the paint properly and applying some decent protection. It will make cleaning it in the future and also retain the value of the car compared to one in bad condition - on a CSL that could be worth a lot of money!!
I didn't do the CSL that was Rich and Brazo -...
If I had one I would get one in the grey like yours...really looks good IMO and a dam sight easier to keep looking good than black aka the b*****d colour ;)
Try Oust or Febreze or similar and should do the job, but a bad smell may be due to bacteria rather than just "dirt" so you can either steam clean them, put in the washing machine (never done this myself mind, not sure how they will end up) or new ones.
I spray the mats with one of the above products and agitate with an abrassive sponge/ normal sponge as required then wipe over with an old MF towel before hoovering off.
If they are fandangled then you can get new ones cheap off the 'bay.
Itsall about the Bavarian Motor Works .
Hopefully the job works out there after uni and I get a new one every 3 months :D On the downside no real reason to detail them :( But I probably will anyway - may even get some brownie points with Internal Sales.
The full detail Brazo and Rich did...
No point, no. Polish will just sit on the surface, only some sealants and waxes benefit from a longer cure time but anything over an hour probably wouldn't have an effect anyway.
Yes, I spread polishes on speed 1 then progress up to 4 or 5 as required. Speed 6 starts the PC in a bronco style...
Speed 5 is fine on the PC, speed 6 goes mentally fast so I just leave it on 5. I normally spread the polish on speed 1 though, have seen some people who just wipe the PC pad over a panel before turning it on too.
I also normally put spots of polish directly onto the panels rather than the pad...
