All I know is its a Nissan 200SX with a turbo on.
Im not big on my jap crap like LOL
Yeah ill let you know how I get on - he hasnt even bought the thing yet though HeHeHe
Well ive only really got the Dastek so to sort out the fueling from having my zorst and viper fitted. The car does feel a little rough round the edges. Im not expecting plus 10bhp more of getting the car set up right but this isnt what I really wanted to know about it was what I could bolt on...
oh thanks for that guys LOL its costing me £350 all done.
right then you say cams ?? where would be the best place to buy them from and how much would they be ??
I take it piper would be the best choice ??
The car is in a garage at the min so getting them fitted wouldnt be a problem...
Im getting the piss ripped out of me from a few of my mates who reckon that my mk1 172 will get blown away by a mate who is about to buy a Nissan 200SX turbo thingy.
My car at the moment has a viper and magnex on and is booked in to get a Dastek fitted in 2 weeks time.
So first up how...
Just bought a Magnex and before I get it bolted on I was thinking of adding a de-cat pipe aswell.
Will the de-cat make much of a difference to the noise levels ???
Also my Clio is a Y plated mk1 172 will it have the twin sencor thingys on ???
The guy at Janspeed reckoned the twin sencors...
Mine is a late Y plater so i dont have a shift light fitted.
Didnt know about the different rpm in different gears thing.
Why did it only rev to about 6500 before the do you think when I went for the 36k service theyve adjusted something ???
Only problem is know I want to rev the nuts...
When is the rev limiter ment to kick in on a mk1 172 ???
Its just that mine used to come in at about 6500 and now I can hit 7000rpm and then I bottle it and change up.....this all happen after my 36k service ......have i still got the limiter there ??? or is 7000rpm + normal for a mk1 172 ...
Where on earth do people with really highly modded metal get insurance from??
Like the guys on here with 200bhp+ 172s where do you get cover ???and how much extra ???
Yeah your probably right about the going fast round corners thing but surley shocks and springs should both come under the same banner lowered suspension as one mod and not 2 separate ones ......daft aint it
Just rang my insurance company up and they want me to pay £104 on top of my premium for the fitment of lowered suspension and a stainless zorst .
Does this sound reasonable ???
Apparently they class spring and shocks as 2 separate mods!!!!
Id like to know if this works cos Ive got a set of brand new ZR rated Pirellis in a size 215 / 40 16 sitting down stairs.....they where from another car of mine.
How much extra would I be expected to pay on my insurance for lowered suspension ?
Is the sportsline kit, I think thats what they call it its the lowest one anyway, is ok for every day use or is it a bit too hard ??
Someone told me that you cant get the tracking set to factory...
For the de-cat boys
Did you tell your insurance company about this mod ?
if so how much did it go up ? if at all that is
Would have thought a set of cams would be very difficult to detect in the event of a write off ?
[Edited by Andyman on 18 May 2004 at 8:53pm]
Yeah I thought the heat with the chip thing was wrong
Who sells these de-cats ? are they just a bolt on and away u go ? the car wont run rich or run lean will it ?
With the cams I thought you had a choice of buying the complete kit or having your original ones re-profiled to the...
Right then I want to make my mk1 172 a little quicker with out telling the insurance company. When all said and done theyd only find out if I totaled the car anyway.
Im thinking of these bolt on style mods, as I live in the sticks I need to take my car to a local garage and cant be hassled...
I do 14k a year and the mpg is really not a problem. I went down the motorway at 70 the other week and I got 44mpg but that was being extra carefull like.....but I was going 70 all the way.
If I stick to 60mph I average 39- 43mpg.......its driving in slow moving traffic that gets the mpg down...
Yes they under read.... me and my mate worked it out a while back on mine.
My average mpg is between 38 - 42 mpg on normal driving and at heavy driving no lower EVER than 35mpg ..... cheap as chips !!!
Get the tracking checked mate ....... just had mine done for the first time since I bought it 3 years ago ...... what a difference ........ The bloke were I got it done reckons some of the well known car companys dont even bother checking it including Reno !!
Mine was all over the place...
Ive noticed that the speedo needle on my mk1 172 sits about 5mm from the bottom line when the cars idling is this normal ?
Its just that if the needles sitting at 30mph the speed Im doing might be higher ...... not good in todays camera happy world.
On the plus side my car might be even...
